Jumped the Shark

I did not like the ending but I realize that it is all in the eyes of the beholder. Having said that, I also think that it is not hard to shock people, the tough part is the writers must make it believable now. And the verdict is still out on that.

I live in a big city and it took my roomate and I two months to find nine other fans for the season finale party at my place. Of the eleven people, only three (me included) are planning to at least watch the season premiere to decide whether to continue watching it. My concern is that the margins of errors for the writers are fairly small. If the show starts losing fans, I am not sure how long ABC would be willing to continue to invest in it.

I think the only problem with Alias is ratings. ABC has shown great interest and investment in Alias. ABC executives have said that Alias is one of their greatest drama. I'm not sure if it was ABC or an article that said it, but Alias was labeled as one of ABC's three "dramas that worked." An ABC executive said that if it was his choice, he would have aired Phase One smack dab right after the 3rd quarter of the Superbowl. Alias has placed in the top 5 of nearly every critic's top 5 TV shows. And look at all the merchandise Alias earns money from--books, trading cards, action figures, and the TBreleased DVD, comic books, and video game.

So as long as Alias picks up on te ratings, I'm sure ABC would be eager to continue it.

This is pointless. Every episode of Alias leaves me on the edge of my seat and I think that's all that matters. This show is great, the cast is amazing, and the writing is not lazy at all.

I humbly beg your pardon if I'm wrong, but this post seems a bit troll-ish to me. If you think Alias has jumped the shark, stop watching. I could address your issues, but it's pointless.
-_-

I love alias. i think that if you think it s getting bad stop watching. i think it is creative and great... i lvoed the season finale. so stay cool  and try not to cause an uproar of alias fans  ^_^

i feel liek alias is just trying to keep up with the fast goign lives of its viewers that is why the turnsd have nbeen more dramatic, the plots more twisted. ec. (y)

I agree with 'newfan'. I've been an Alias fan since the beginning but I'm just disappointed that JJ put Syd/Vaughn together and then is abruptly breaking them up this way. Why even get them together? It would have been better if he just had allowed the romantic tension (angst) to continue between them but not put them together as a couple. I normally don't get into espionage/sci-fi type TV shows but I liked Alias from the beginning because of the chemistry between the characters, especially Syd/Vaughn. Now, I don't know what JJ is doing with Alias and I'm thoroughly disgusted. I worked hard to convince some friends and family members to watch Alias and all that was for naught because most of them are done watching the show. I'm going to watch the first espisode of the new season and if I don't like what I see, I'm done watching too.

Please don't lame blast me for my feelings about the show. All of us are entitled to our own opinions.

If you think there is going to be no angst, you're missing something--how much angst is there when you see a happy couple together? (Actually, romantic tension and angst aren't exactly the same thing, by the way. Angst can be experienced over romantic tension.) It's not as though there will be no more interaction between Sydney and Vaughn. The chemistry between the characters isn't lost, but the situation has changed. Plus, you mentioned more characters than just S/V. It's a pity if an unexpected plot twist can cause you to suddenly drop a series without a fair trial period. I think one episode is hardly enough. There is one case in which I dumped a series after a single episode, but they suddenly altered their entire premise (as well as the production team and half the cast, by the way), which Alias is most assuredly not doing.
;)

We knew as soon as Rambaldi was first mentioned in the earlier eps of Season 1, that this Rambaldi thing was gonna get big. And we all need to calm down about Syd and Vaughn. We ALL knew that EVENTUALLY they were gonna get together. Even after they did, there was still angst, and tension and stuff. Besides, we'll be getting it all over again next season 'cause Vaughn got himself married. This show, in my opinion is just getting better.

I agree, some of the things on the show have been a little far fetched recently. But you have to admit, it's still a good show.

The only thing I can think of that I didn't like about the season finale was the Sark-Francie/Allison kiss. I hate Evil Francie and love Sark.

Um, if I'm correct in this, I don't think that JJ wrote the first half. If you look in the credits it says that. So if that was the first hour, then JJ didn't write that. Therefore, it would make sense cause it's so not him!
