I did not like the ending but I realize that it is all in the eyes of the beholder. Having said that, I also think that it is not hard to shock people, the tough part is the writers must make it believable now. And the verdict is still out on that.
I live in a big city and it took my roomate and I two months to find nine other fans for the season finale party at my place. Of the eleven people, only three (me included) are planning to at least watch the season premiere to decide whether to continue watching it. My concern is that the margins of errors for the writers are fairly small. If the show starts losing fans, I am not sure how long ABC would be willing to continue to invest in it.
