I had never heard of Lena Olin until she was cast as Irina. But I've loved her -- and her character -- ever since the end of "The Enemy Walks In" where she just walked in to the CIA offices, cool as a cucumber, and turned herself in. She even dressed up for the occasion! And the look on the receptionist's face was priceless!

Me too Ophelia! I never heard of her either until she joined the show and I have loved her and her character since "The Enemy Walks In" too! Yeah, she is a REALLY good actress! Yeah, she did do all that in "The Enemy Walks In." The look was priceless! Man! We have a lot in common.

I don't wish was she signed for 22 eps. I wish she was signed for the rest of the Alias seasons. 16 eps... that is too little! We can hope she changes her mind!

Did anyone know that Lena Olin is 47?

Well if it is Lena Olin decision to do more episodes let us hope she changes her mind! Otherwise, if it is JJ Abrams decision maybe fans should write to JJ Abrams through the official channel and ask him to keep her on for the entire show.

I know when Dark Shadows aired in the sixties they only planned to have Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins, a two hundred year-old vampire, on for a few episodes and he became so popular with the teenagers of the time and cult fans that he became a regular until the end of the show plus he was also in their movies in the 70s!

Dallas, a night soap, during the 80s had Joan Collins on as the nemesis to John Forsyth and she was quite popular in the role until the show ended!

Yes JJ Abrams should try to keep her on as Spy Mom for the entire run of "Alias" if possible at least in my opinion -- Lena Olin is great in the role and adds to the suspense of the "Spy Family" ... "the family who stays together ... spies together!!!

Happy New Year!

Has anybody else seen "The Unbearable Lightness of Being?" I just got it on DVD. Lena Olin is wonderful as Sabina, an uninhibited bohemian painter. Well, she does have one inhibition: a deep fear of intimacy and permanence. She doesn't like to stay in one place -- or with any one person -- for too long. In one of the best scenes in the movie, her latest lover, Franz, shows up at her door saying that he has left his wife for her (she even helped him pack, he says). He asks Sabina if he can stay with her. Sensing that she is uncomfortable, he offers to come back the next day. Sabina is in tears. When Franz returns the next day, he finds her apartment empty.

I don't think they're going to be the last 6 eps. It's just 6 overall, scattered throughout the season. I think we've already had one without her, haven't we? Or possibly two? I can't remember...

Ophelia, I have seen the Unbearable Lightness of beings, she's awesome in that! And Chocolat, and The Ninth Gate.

Lena Olin is such a stellar actress, Alias really benefits from her. She can convey a thousand feelings with just one look. Like the coffee scene with Vaughn, it was great. (y)

yeah i saw he in chocolat. she was a woman who was abused by her husband and it showed how she good through that and became stronger. she was a really good actress!!! and in alias too! she plays the character really well! but i still think that syd is the best woman on the show!!!!

I loved LO in "Chocolat;" her character was so different from Irina Derevko. And Irina is my favorite female "Alias" character. And I can't remember two TV characters more fascinating than Jack and Irina.

I just read somewhere (more specifically, this week's TV Times's TV Q&A) that Lena Olin is not in any way related to Alias producer Ken Olin. She is in fact the daughter of Ingrid Bergman's acting colleague Stig Olin, and is married to international director Lasse Hallstrom.

BTW, Ken Olin is currently married to Patricia Wettig, who has a recurring role on Alias as Syd's CIA therapist, Dr. Judy Bartnett.
