The moon lit the bridge with an errie essence. The crikets started to chirp again after a long anticpated wait. The water only showed ripples of where the car once plunged. Everything was silent. Then ,from the water, came a big gush. And a breath for air. Sydney breathed heavily as she swam to the bank. Weak and fragile sydney hung to the edge as a child would hang to her mother. Sydney gasped for air and clenched her fingers into the muddy soil. Her hair dripped little balls of water onto her face. The mascara she had neatly put on earlier had grown even deeper down her cheeks then it had when her and vaughn were in the rain. Sydney tryed with all her strenght to push up onto the grassy bankment, but she just wobbled over on her back and laid silently.
****At Vaughns house******
Vaughn paced back and forth. wildly like he had just won a million dollars. His crinkles on his forhead intenced and his thumbs twiddled with a rythem.
"Where is she." He whispered to himself as looked out the window.
******Back with sydney at the creek********
Sydney cryed at the thought her not being able to move her feet.
Just as Sydney was giving up hope, a farmer came from the bunch of trees. He ran to Sydney's side.
"Uh M'am are you OK?" He said with a southern accent.
Sydney coughed up some water as weakily said.
"n- no my car went over and-" Just then Sydney blacked out.
The farmer looked at her in panic. Ran for his farm just behind the trees.
********* With Vaughn***********
An hour had passed and still no sign of Sydney. Vaughn started to worry.
He sat next to the phone, and patiently waiting for it to ring.
"Come on you peice of felgercarb! Ring!"
And as if it was a miracle the phone rang.
"Hello!" Said Vaughn. In the hope that it was Sydney.
"Mr. Vaughn?" Said the man on the other side.
Vaughn sighed. It wasn't her.
"Yes." Answered Vaughn.
"Mr. Vaughn. We have a patient her by the name of Sydney Bristow and theres something I need to tell you. And Its best if you come down here."
****At Vaughns house******

Vaughn dropped the phone and ran out the door. The rain had turned into non existent drizzles that lightly covered vaughns hair with a sprinty wetness.
Vaughn drove to the hospital with a million things in his mind. He almost crashed into a parked car, when he thought about Sydney lying there on that bed without him by her side.
She pulled into the parking lot and ran to the hospital gates.
"You cant go in that way!" Shouted one nurse after him.
Vaughn didn't care. He stoped at the nurses desk.
"Hi. I'm here about Sydney Bristow."
"How do you spell that?" Asked the nurse.
"S-Y-D-N-E-Y B-R-I-S-T-O-W."
The nurse typed away at her computer then looked up over her glasses.
"Ahh yes. Ms. Bristow is in trauma one."
"May I see her." Asked Vaughn.
"Well if you sit down The doctor will be with you in a minute."
he walked over and sat on one of the hard supposedly cushioned seats in the waiting room. Fortunatly he was the only one in there. It made it quiet. Almost too quiet. Vaughn put his head between his legs and stared at the floor. He tryed to hold back the lump in his throat.
The doctor came out holding a thin metal chart in his hand.
"Ms. Vaughn I presume?" Asked the Doctor.
Vaughn nodded.
"Well Sydney has suffered mild breakage to her left arm. That just means that her arm is broken and will need a cast."
Vaughn sighed in relief.
"But...." Continued the doctor.
"Sydney seems to have some problems with both her left and right legs."
"Meaning...." Asked Vaughn
"Meaning that by the looks of it Sydney has paralyzed both her legs."

"What did he just say. I must have heard him wrong. Sydney. Sydney's OK. Yea I deffinetly heard him wrong."
Thought Vaughn as he stared at the rack of Hospital magazines.
"Mr. Vaughn... Mr Vaughn. Can you hear me?" The doctor finally got Michaels attention after countless trys.
"oh I'm sorry." Vaughn looked up at the doctor.
"As I was saying she will need some intense therapy right now. We haven't determaned anything yet, but we are pretty sure that is what it is. Nothing is certain yet, because she was just brought in not to long ag-"
"What happened?" Interupted Vaughn.
The doctor bit his bottom lip then crossed his legs.
"Sydney's car went off the side of a bridge on the outskirts of the city. She was found by a farmer."
Vaughn started to stare again. His thoughts and feelings were so confused he didn't know what to do. He felt like crying, but nothing came out.
"Ca- Can I see her?" Vaughn brushed back the lump in his throat.
The doctor looked at Vaughn and saw how devestated he was.
"I guess you could come back for awhile."
The doctor led Vaughn though the hall and into Sydney's room.
"I wouldn't stay too long. I cant have you getting caught."
Vaughn nodded weakly then started to walk closer to the end of the bed.
There layed Sydney on the bed. Her eyes were closed and she looked so helpless. Vaughn wanted to break out in tears.
He walked over to her side and clapsed her hands in his.
He looked down at her legs which were under the warm blue blanket that covered her.
Before he could shed a tear, Sydneys eyes weakily opened.
Vaughn gave her an encouraging smile.
"Hey." He whispered.
"Vaughn." Cried Sydney.
Vaughn looked deep into her eyes.
"I heard what they said. They said I am paralyzed. I-I." Sydney eyes started to water.
"O god syd." Vaughn leaned in and gave Sydney a hug. He held her tight and just then promised to never let her go.
"Sydney. They dont know what it is yet. It could be just a little sprang. Its to early for them to tell."
Sydney looked at vaughn. Her right eye was black and she had brusies up her arms.
"V-Vaughn. It wasn't an accident." Began Sydney.
"I was being chased, and my brakes were shot."
Vaughn got wide eyed with anger.
"What?" He said weakily.
"I couldn't tell who it was."
"It cant be Sark. He is in CIA custody." Said Vaughn.
Sydney started to cry.
"Vaughn I dont know what to do. I cant be paralyzed. I just cant."
"I know your not. ok. You will get better." Vaughn grasped Sydney's hands tight.
"Sydney I have to go make a phone call."
Vaughn smiled then walked over to the pay phone.
He dialed then held his ear to the phone.
"Eric?"
"Yea Mike?"
"Yea. Listen Sydney's in the hospital and I was curious How is that thing with Sark?"
"Well I was just calling you to say he somehow escaped not to long ago, and what do you means shes in the hospital."
Vaughn stared at the phone.
"Mike! What do you mean." asked Wiess. trying to get vaughns attention.
(In Sydney's room)
The nurse walked into Sydney's room and set her stuff on the tray next to Sydney.
Sydney felt a wierdness come over her when the nurse walked in.
"Our you new here?" Asked Sydney.
The nurse looked at Sydney then grinned.
"Yea. I just started tonight." The nurse's smile turned to a straight evil stare.
Before Sydney could yell the nurse had a pillow over Sydney's face.
