love, or something like it

yes, you are civilization... right?

well, i didn't finish as much as I wanted to, heck, this isn't long at all... but here's a little blurb from the next chapter- for twinkletoes, and the rest of civilization... ;)

"Dead..." Sydney echoed.

"Yup. Please, please. Hold your applause," Weiss stated, waving to his unseen fans.

"Weiss, be serious. How can we be sure it's him?" Sydney said, trying to see it from all angles. It was too simple...how could Sark just be...dead ?

"You're right Syd," Vaughn agreed, as he stooped to pick up Sark's gun, "Besides Lennox, there was that other double."

"Come on you guys, can't you just accept he's dead? Gone? Kicked the bucket? Dead as a-"

"Weiss," Sydney interrupted, "we're just trying to consider every option." Weiss looked thoughtful. Suddenly, his eyes grew wide in fear.

"Oh...my..god. He's MOVING!" Weiss cried. Vaughn jumped about a mile, running into Sydney. They toppled to the floor, yet again. Both turned back toward where Sark was lying. The air was deathly silent, everyone staring at Sark's body. Suddenly, Weiss began to giggle hysterically.

"You..should've....seen the look on...your...faces," Weiss managed, doubling over. Full blown laughs escaped his throat, until Sydney threw one of her heels at him.

"Weiss, a major ass-kicking is totally in order," Sydney cried as she let her head thump on the floor. It wasn't until some moments later that she realized Michael Vaughn was still sprawled on top of her. She looked at him, and he smiled. You really need to stop doing that Syndey thought as her heart rate practically tripled. He frowned, saying, "You okay, Syd? Your heart is beating really fast."

It was then Sydeny noticed that his hand was holding her wrist down on the floor. This forced her heart into high speed, as she reluctantly yet thankfully wriggled her arm free. "Oh, I'm okay," she managed. He smiled again, blushing slightly. He started to get up, reaching for Sydney's hand to held her. Sydney silently pleaded for him to come back. Then her wish was unpleasantly answered.

Vaughn started to get up, when all of a sudden, a man burst through the door, gun drawn. No one moved, the man looked unbelievably like Sark. Then he raised his gun, sending Vaughn careening for cover, pulling Sydney's hand. They toppled behind a couch, same position as earlier. Neither had time to feel anything as Vaughn tossed Sark's gun to Sydney and pulled out his own. One shot rang out. Vaughn and Sydney looked at each other, then cautiously glanced over the couch.

well, hoped you liked the blurb. tell me what you thought.

wasn't planning on posting, but since bluheart hates cliffhangers~ ^_^

There, on the floor, was Weiss. "Eric!!" Vaughn yelled, vaulting over the couch to Weiss' side. Sydney covered him, but the Sark look-alike had vanished. She lowered her gun...Not Weiss! she thought.

Vaughn looked like he was going to cry. It was understandable, his best friend had just been shot at. Weiss offered a weak smile saying, "Hey, I'm okay. I was wearing a vest."

Vaughn heaved a heavy sigh and unbuttoned Weiss' coat, revealing his bulletproof vest. Relief washed over Vaughn's features, and he relaxed. "Jesus Eric, you scared the felgercarb out of me," he moaned.

"I scared the felgercarb out of you ? Sark's ghostly form scared the felgercarb out of me !!" Weiss exclaimed, attempting to sit up. Vaughn offered his hand to his friend, who took it gratefully.

"So I guess it's safe to assume Sark has a double," Sydney sighed, flopping into a chair, "or that was Sark, and we killed his double."

"Yeah, I guess," Vaughn said, standing up and glancing at his watch. "I think we need to get out of here, our flight's soon."

Sydney glanced idly at the clock on the wall. It was five o'clock already. She had been wearing her dress for over 24 hours. "Vaughn," she asked, "would you mind if I borrowed some of your parents' clothes? Anything but this."

"Sure," Vaughn answered, "you remember where my mom's closet is, right?"

"Yup," Sydney replied. She headed for the clothes, almost itching to remove the dress.

Back in the living room, Vaughn helped Weiss to his feet. He seemed to be okay. Weiss reached into his pocket and pulled out Vaughn and Sydney's plane tickets and new passports. "Well Mr. Herrera, have a good flight," Weiss said as he handed Vaughn the tickets. Vaughn glanced down at the passports- Mr. Herrera and Ms. Santiago. He raised his eyebrows.

"Fiancé, with a Latin twist," Weiss added, dancing tango with an invisible partner, "you can thank me later."

"Okay, Eric. But are you all right to drive?" Vaughn asked anxiously.

"Yup," he said. At the door he turned back to Vaughn saying, "And Señor, no funny business with Señorita Sydney."

Vaughn smiled, but didn't reply.
