Lurlene McDaniel

I didn't know if this would go into children's books or anything like that...but it's more of a teen fiction kind of thing...but the author Lurlene McDaniel is one of the best author's i have ever read. Her books are usually based upon tragic circumstances...more along the lines of cancerous tragedies. She started writing books after her son was diagnosed with a form of diabetes. Her books are very factual, but also throw in a twist of real life lessons teens learn along the way...and it also shows what life is like with diseases, so you get a better understanding of things.

She's written many novels, but here are some of my favorites...
- Don't Die, My Love
- The Dawn Rochelle Quartet
- Too Young to Die
- Goodbye Doesn't Mean Forever
- Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

I just thought I would share with other teens in this forum one of my favorite authors...and I figure this can also be used to share other teenage authors because frankly, I need another author to read since I've read all of her books.

OMG, I used to adore the Lurlene McDaniel books! I have a whole bunch of them. My favorites were the Dawn Rochelle series, Baby Alicia is Dying, The Legecy- Making Wishes Come True, and... just about all of them.

oh wow! I had almost forgotten about the Lurlene McDaniel series. I could read the stories over and over and still cry every time! My favorite was Don't Die, My Love. And then there was a set of two, with a red hair girl who met someone who was a race car driver(Mark, I think) and died...then her disease came back and she died as well....gone to be with him.

I loved those books, I found i could kinda relate to them, my sister has Spina Bifida so...

The books were so touching and especially for teen readers they teach you to really appreciate life.

have you ever read Somewhere Between Life and Death? that is a really good one and so is Six Monthes to live, i read that one at least 3 times and cried each time!!!

my favorite lurlene books had to be don't die, my love (did anyone see the tv movie?) and the leah lewis hall trilogy (angels watching over me, lifted up by angels and until angels close my eyes). reading those boosk always make me cry... *sniff sniff*

I'm the twin who read the Lurlene Mcdaniel books!! I've only read two but both were sad!! I read Until Angels Close My Eyes and Lifted Up By Angels!! I cried my eyes out in both books!!

these books are really helping me cope now, even though i haven't read them in a while...i just started recently

i highly suggest reading them when a family member has cancer, or had just passed away, or is dying.

it helps me right now, my grandfather is dying, but that's just me
