Season 3 My reason why I might NOT watch alias

If that's so, I can't wait to see how Jack and Irina manage to get back together! Tell you what though; I'm not holding my breath!

When I wrote that I wasn't thinking anywhere along the lines Jack&Irina--more with Sydney Vaughn but that does raise an interesting question. Where does Jack/Irina fit into season 3? It's anyone's guess as their relationship is very very complicated. I guess this is another 'wait, see, and hold your breath' thing.
You did bring up the subject of true love . . .
;)

The only time i would never watch alis again would probably be if like everything on the show was really screwed up and for meeh to not watch it they would have to do something so stupid like kill off Sydney and have Alice take her place when that happens if that ever happens then I WILL NOT WATCH ALIAS FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so give the people what they want J.J.

SYD & VAUGHN FOR EVER

You did bring up the subject of true love . .

So, Vh...I pretty much brought that whole thing upon myself huh? ;) Do you consider Jack and Irina's relationship 'true love'? Just wondering if that's what you meant by all of this.

Let's see. You have a man who was about as completely betrayed and screwed over as a man could be by a woman and he forgives her. Why do I say he forgives her? Jack opposed Irina for two reasons this season: the danger she posed to his country, and more importantly, the danger she posed to his daughter--all the pain and anguish he inflicted on him personally he keeps bottled up. His interactions with Irina betray not so much hatred as a sense of deep loss and sorrow. He never moved on after her apparent death, but withdrew into himself. Although we certainly don't have a full picture of what he was like during the 20 years after Irina's disappearance, it looks as though Jack has not attempted any kind of meaningful relationship with a woman since then. Had he not been forced to on account of Sydney, Jack would not have interacted with Irina at all--it would have been far too painful to him.

It's much harder to say on Irina's part, isn't it? For a person who is much more open with her emotions than Jack is, ultimately, she is much more guarded with them, isn't she? For although she uses her feelings in her work--genuine feelings--she's a master of compartmentalization. She seems to have them all sorted out and prioritized. But does this regimented and rational approach to her emotional state preclude true love? We haven't quite yet seen her truly tested--that moment where she has to choose between love and a very high goal. And yet, there are hints . . . and there was Jack's test of her. Jack's test ("A Dark Turn") was to see whether she would attempt to seduce him once she already had everything she wanted--which she did. This indicates, if not love, at least lust--some strong feeling for him.

I'd say, yes, probably it is "true love"--and a tragic love at that, star-crossed as it is.
;)

I have not decided whether I will watch it next season. If I don't, I will honestly miss this site as much as the show. You guys are great and funny...made my days many times.

Wow....I never quite thought about all those things. I mean I thought about some, but not everything you mentioned. From what you pointed out, you could call Jack&Irina's love 'true.' I didn't realize that one comment I made would lead to this... I'm really sorry if I annoyed or affended you in anyway Verdantheart! I just put that out there because that's what I kept hearing (technically, reading). But I do see where you are coming from with all this and I agree with you on many of the points you made.

Not at all!!! I didn't mean the tone of my answer to seem offended or irritated at all. (I enjoy discussing these things, after all . . . and will do so at length at the drop of a hat, apparently  ). You just asked whether I would consider Jack & Irina's relationship "true love," so I expounded (lengthily, as usual) on some of the reasons. I could go on and offend others by suggesting reasons why Syd/Vaughn might not be (though, who knows, they might), but (happily) I'll refrain.
;)

I'm really glad we've got that settled! :D Yeah, you might want to refrain from the Syd/Vaughn thing.....some people might get a little upset. ;) hehe. By the way---lengthy explanations not bad! Love discussing these things too--I just don't like to affend too many people, especially ones I respect and admire. ;)
