so i was just watching some reruns of buffy today to avoid studying. and i really wanted to talk about some of them. so i guess this thread is just for random episode discussions - just like the title says.
i watched a whole bunch of reruns today (i was really procrastinating), but the one that really stuck with me was "normal again" from the 6th season. it's the one where the nerd trio send some sort of demon out to attack buffy and it injects her with some sort of poison. buffy starts hallucinating that she's in a mental institution and the doctor and her parents are telling her that the world where she's a slayer isn't real.
the episode ends with buffy "dying" in the hallucination world (where she was in the mental institution) and it almost reminded me of alias. which world was the "real" one? i mean, do we REALLY know? is it crazy that i almost started to believe what the doctor and her parents were saying - that she was making up a world where she was a hero that killed demons and vampires. obviously, it sounds crazy, but i couldn't stop thinking - what if none of this is real? every episode i watched after that just made me wonder if buffy was just "hallucinating" all of this and all of it was just happening in her head. very matrix-y. i think it sort of just spooked me.
well, and it probably doesn't help that we were learning about schizophrenia this quarter in my abnormal psychology class so a lot of what the doctor was saying was actually true, medically speaking. it's sort of cool when you can apply what you've learned to television.
anyway, what does everyone else think? or we can talk about other episodes too, if you want.
