A review of my SF novel 'Scales' has just been published on the Spiral Galaxy Reviews site here: http://spiralgalaxyreviews.blogspot.com/2008/02/super-powered-character-is-common-in.html

Other reviews are summarised on my website, with links to the full reviews, here: http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/Scales Book.htm where the first four chapters can be read on-line.

So far, a total of nine reviews: one bad, a couple of middling and the rest fairly good. Could be worse, especially since I published the book myself, as first written (I edit as I go along) without any editorial or other critical input, and it's being reviewed by some people who normally tackle professionally published and edited novels. It might be worth persevering with writing after all…

Hmm, well you can't please everyone.

Indeed not. That's my main comfort when I get a bad review: that there probably hasn't been an author in history who hasn't had some bad reviews.

Of course, if they were mostly bad I'd have to have a rethink...

At least when it comes to movies, some of the genre's most beloved 'cult' films were universally panned upon their release.

Listen to the fans, not the reviewers.
