Russian military: 'Space troops not yet ready to fight aliens’

In a surprising move, an apparently serious journalist raised this question of extraterrestrial security during a media conference at the Titov Main Test and Space Systems Control Center near Moscow, Russia’s main satellite control center.

“So far we are not capable of that. We are unfortunately not ready to fight extraterrestrial civilizations,” the center’s deputy chief Sergey Berezhnoy explained.

“Our center was not tasked with it. There are too many problems on Earth and near it,” he added.

Quite a valid question actually. If you're looking outwards and have a military wing, then what exactly do you expect them to train for.......except stopping humans getting in and damaging/stealing your equipment.

I am curious now as to what preparations they believe they would need explicitly for fighting extraterrestrials that they are able to identify and acknowledge that they are unprepared for.

MREs, morse-code radios, and an apple laptop that can interface with the alien mothership.

seriously, I read somewhere that in the 1960s the gummint asked some think tank (Rand corp?) about what to do in case of alien invasion. the advice was, surrender, since we had/have no strike back capability.

:ROFLMAO: The Apple laptop not only must be able to interface with the alien mothership but also be able to transmit a virus that includes a menacing GUI display.

That would make for some interesting reading. In a nod to HG Wells & The Simpsons the advice was basically "I, for one, welcome our new {insert alien description} overlords."
