S.A.R.S.

S.A.R.S. I know it's serious. Many people have died from it already. The doctors aren't sure if my family has it or not. I'm fine, but my mother and sister aren't. My dad's a paramedic so we think that he brought it home and now he's beginning to get sick. If you peopl have anything to say out there about S.A.R.S then post it here.

There have been cases of S.A.R.S. in California :( I think it's very serious, and mysterious. I wonder what the cause of it is.

We were talking about this in Biology a week ago. I'm not sure I understand completely what it is, I know how it's been spread around though. Could you clear up a little what it is, because a lot of people keep confusing me about it. People say it's a mutated virus of the flu or something?

What does S.A.R.S. actually stand for exactly? People keep talking. I'm aware of what it is but I haven't yet ask someone what it stood for before I get a long lecture about how I should be more aware of current events.

I'll tell you what it's about. It stands for Severe Acute Respirotory Syndrome. It is lethal so far. I live in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.

SARS stands for sever acute respirtory sydrome, it's a lot like pneumonia. it killed more than 75 ppl and 1800 are sick with it. um.. basically it's like you get a fever, then u get a dry cough so basically it kills .

New Market, that's near T.O right? that sux, hope ur familiy is gonna be alright, there are people who got better from SARS if that's any help.

Well, it originally came from China or Japan from people who went there. They brought it back over and it's like a type of Pneumonia. The signs are as follows:
-Fever over 38 degrees celsius.
-Cough.
-Difficulty breathing.
If you go to a hospital when your not sure you have have it or not and people in the hospital have it. You'll have a better chance of getting it there then at your home. If you have it or think you have it then you stay home from school until a doctor says that it's ok. But a doctor won't want to say that you have it because that means that you have been in contact with him and then he'll turn around and won't be able to work because of it. So you should wear a mask. Avoid direct contact and so on. I hope me answering your questions about S.A.R.S. helped you better understand what it really is.

how does it spread exactly? is it airborne? that's what i've heard, but i could be mistaken. it just seems that it would be since everyone in asia seems to be walking around with masks on. and so far the only advice i've heard from health officials on the news is to wash our hands. and... that's it. and i've also heard that officials in hong kong knew about this disease since last year but tried several times to cover it up until it just got too big to cover up.

I'll explain some more.
Which can cause it.
- You have to be at least a metre away from a person who has S.A.R.S. or you'll get it.
-If you touch something of somebody who has S.A.R.S. then you can get it.
-It's only airborne if your in the room with someone who has it and they cough, sneeze etc...

It is bad. Imagine living in China. Living in fear of everything. At school they have taken many precautions. I haven't gone to school for a while because my family has it so I can't go.

Yah, the schools were too afraid that everybody would get it and then parents would probably sue the schools for it.

oooo god thankgod i am not going to asia this summer (but my sister is going to israel-right in between i hope she doesnt get it)
