Irina in her own way did encourage the S/V romance. Why do you think she did that? I would have thought she would not have because of a couple of obvious reasons. First. she had said she wanted Sidney to leave the CIA. So why would she want Sydney to be involved with another CIA agent? Second, she must know that her being responsible for his father's death would be a big problem for them. Would it not be easier for Syndey if her relationship is without all those complications?

By the way, I am glad she did. I was just wondering, that is all.
 
well i think its because irina wants sydney to be happy. because so far everything she has told sydney and done for her is the truth. even though she still is against the cia(or as far as we know!) and betrayed jack again, but we know that or we are atleast led to believe that irina does really love sydney(the earrings, making sure she got out of the building in TTT, all her talks whether they were a plan or not, her talk to sloane) and another thing, as we have seen in many situations, irina can tell something about a person by just a glance and she knew this about sydney and vaughn(remember passage?!) also another thing irina tried to do for sydney was to get her out of the cia(like you said) but now thinking about this, i think i know why she tried to do that, because she knew if sydney stayed she would be against irina and sloane since irina knew everything that was going to happen. so i do think irina was trying to bring s/v together with true intentions and i hope that she is ulitmately good but who really knows that question(i wonder if even jj knows that one!)
 
This is WAY out there, but maybe if she thinks the girl in the Rambaldi prophecy is not her or Sydney, but Sydney's future daughter, she wants Syd to hurry up and get started on the baby-makin'? Nah.....
 
i have heard many speculation of that but there is just one thing majorly wrong with that. in the prophecy rambaldi says that this woman is alive now. remember?
 
yeah i thik despite the fact irina betrayed the cia she really wants syd to be happy...taht why she asked jack and stuff about syd and the cia thing,......irina is a pretty good mom...she loves her kid adn only her kids happinesss matters to her i guess

it did? But it was written over 500 years ago, so how could it have said she's alive now without giving a specific date? :confused:


I think--hope--think--know--hope-- Irina's good.
 
i do too, but maybe the document wasnt meant to be taken litearlly as in against the world but against someone or something, maybe against sloane?
 
what was really interesting was that RIGHT when irina met vaughn, she picked up the vibe straight away. "sydney? interesting..."

well, IF irina is good (and that's a big if because i, personally, don't think she is), then maybe she wants syd and vaughn together as sort of a way to try to make up for some of the evil things she did in her past. "hey vaughn, sorry i killed your father, but here's my daughter. have fun."

huh. somehow that sounded a lot less disgusting in my head. but you guys know what i mean.
 
I think Irina wanted Syd to get together with Vaughn, so she would leave the CIA to be with him...so Syd couldn't get in the way, she also said she wouldn't see her if she stayed. She doesn't want her daughter to die (saving her in TTT), but she wants her daughter out of the way. And encouraging her and Vaughn was one tactic
 
but vaughn is IN the cia so if irina wanted syd out of the cia, wouldn't syd still be linked (and possibly even tempted to return to the cia)? imo, it'd make more sense if irina discouraged a relationship with vaughn if she truly did want syd out of the cia.
 
oh okay, i see what you mean now. but if that were the case, wouldn't vaughn have to leave too? well, probably not, just as long as one of them wasn't in the cia, it would probably be okay. but even then, do you really think irina would think that sydney would give up the cia just for vaughn? i mean, vaughn is a great motive, don't get me wrong (;)), but call my cynical - i doubt that sydney would give up the cia just for him and i think irina thinks that as well.

but...this is all my opinion. :smiley: it's interesting to speculate why irina would encourage sydney. actually, it's just plain interesting to speculate on ANYTHING irina does. that woman is an enigma. :blink:
 
I think Irina loves Sydney!! I mean after all she is her mother!!!!!!!! Irina recently called her name out so she could get out of that building safely!!
 
I don't doubt that Irina loves Sydney. If there is one thing we can be sure about Irina, that would be it.
But then that is part of my point. Now I would pick Vaughn any day of the week and twice on Sunday regardless. But from a loving mother's point of view, wouldn't she rather a less complicated relationship for Syndey?
