Season 2 Scenery in Hong Kong

This is my first post, so be nice. My question is in regards to when Sydney woke up in the Hong Kong alley. Did anyone notice anything a little odd about the background? This might just be me, but I noticed it maybe looked a little fake, like it was virtual reality or a green screen. My school used a green screen for morning anouncements, and the effect was similar, but a lot cheaper-looking.

im not sure if this is quite what you're talkinga bout but the redness of it, i think that was from the rambaldi artifact..

At first I thought it was just a filter, but when I rewatched it, it does look like a green screen to me. (y)

I figured I wasn't the only one who thought that. I think there is something seriously up with that last scene. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something is definitely odd about everyone's reactions, especially Vaughn's. What do you guys think?

yeah it did look weird and im thinking it really looked more like a dream or the glimpse into the future thing!

well the only thing i have is that of course they can't ACTUALLY go to china... maybe they were being cheap.

Alias never travels out of the country to shoot in an exotic place, they had recordings of Hong Kong and just placed sydney in it. They do that will most places.

I agree. My point was it looked fake, almost like it was computer generated. I know they don't really go on location to all the places on the show, but it looked incredibly cheap for Alias. I'm not sure if that means anything or not. I'm just saying there is something not right about the background. Like ames and many other people have said, it might be just a dream  (lame) or like "The Telling" suggests, a glimpse into the possible future if something happens or doesn't happen -_- (a good possibility). I see the same theories popping up. I know this is getting :eek:fftopic: , but I wonder if anyone has any other original, but plausible theories.

it was probably digital in shooting the scene so they used a green screen

yah i agree, i think the rambaldi artifact is causing it and that's why it looks fake (almost unreal)

I agree...the way the camera swirled after Syd shot freplica and then the surreal Hong Kong where she literally almost walks into that guy...I'm really hoping those were indications that what we saw was not taking place in the real world of ALIAS...but instead (my favorite conclusion) was a view of the future given to Syd throught "the telling." at least I hope it isn't real!

I agree! think about how tiring it is to shoot per scene all AROUND THE GLOBE...
You are actually using my avatar ... and I was like ... when did I reply on this thread ... I don't remember reading this ... well, yeah, if someone else is using my avatar ... lol ...

I know ... :eek:fftopic:

I doubt that the scenery was depicting a dream though. Having it all be a dream would be the easy way out and it'd be disappointing to know that we were all jumping for no reason. It's uncharacteristic of Alias to have an event as big as this to have such a simple, untrue solution. There must be something deeper.

And the scenery seemed "dreamy" because it was a green scene. Although it's possible to get a very real background using a green screen, Alias probably just didn't have the resources to make it look real enough. Or they could have evn done it on purpose to add to the feeling. Sydney was confused when she woke up, and the blurriness and blinking lights depict that confusion, helping us realize Sydney's emotion.

So much of Alias' locals are computer generated or green screen or something high-tech (if you've read the ALIAS:Declassified, u know what I'm talking about). They could have made the Hong Kong scene look just as realistic as everything in the past has. I think the fact that it looked "surreal" (for lack of a better term) has to mean something...what that could be, I'm not going there ^_^ .
