chapter 10
Noah. Tears stung her eyes. All the memories of the times they've had flashed before her eyes. She hoped that he wasn't dead.
She would have to search the entire base for him. They had no tracking devices, no comm. links, nothing. So she had to look, which could take hours and was exteremly risky. She couldn't get caught. And she had to be rough, for Noah.
Sydney his in the bushes as she screwed the silencer onto her pistol. She was hoping that she wouldn't have to use this. Sydney looked through the leaves of the bush when she heard talking.
Two men with asualt riffles stood on the gravel outside the base's back door. One of them spoke a few words as he walked away. Sydney waited untill his crunching footsteps faded.
The security guard in front of her lit a ciggeret and put it to his lips. he pulled it down and let out a puff of smoke.
Sydney nervously raised her gun. This was the part she hated. She bit her tongue as she pulled the trigger.
The guard dropped his ciggeret and screamed. His knees buckled and he fell to the ground, grunting and moaning. He was gripping his destroyed knee cap.
Sydney leaped to her feet and jumped over to the guard. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him toward her, pointing her gun at him. She didn't want to do this. She was already sorry that she shot his knee.
She swallowed the hard knot in her throat, just to put it in her stomach. "My partner was taken into custody, where is he?" She tried to sound intimidating, but she was scared. And it came out sounding that way.
The man, petrified, swallowed and licked his lips. "In the basement..."
Sydney took a deep breath. She couldn't bring herself to hit him in the head. But she had to. She raised her gun and cracked the handle against the man's scull. She winced when she did it. And he was out cold.
She glanced around as she dragged the body behind the bushes. Then she looked around once more, before dashing to the door.
When Sydney came to the stairs that she was at earlier, she almost collapsed. Noah's blood painted the first few steps. She gagged at the thought that he might be dead. Incase he was still alive, she had to keep going. She sucked up her sobs and took a step around the corner, escaping the spilt blood.
The elevator was at the end of the hall. Sydney quickly made her way to it. Ignoring all the spots of blood that had dripped from Noah and Ana.
Once Sydney got to the elevator she quickly pressed the basement button and took a deep breath. She had seen too much blood; most of it Noah's. And she knew that if she looked at the wall behind her, there'd be blood. So she kept her eyes closed as she waited for the elevator to stop.
She let out the breath she had been holding when it stopped and the doors opened.
The basement was littered with stacked boxes and fences. And a voice rang, leaping from wall to wall. Ana.
Sydney hid behind a pile of boxes and looked toward the center of the room. She choked when she saw Noah; bruised, bloody and battered, sitting strapped to a chair. Ana and one other man stood in front of him
"There's a team looking for your little girlfriend." Ana said, a cold smile on her face. "And if she doesn't have it, and you don't tell me where it is, I'll kill her."
Noah didn't move, he didn't speak. Ana's face turned from pleased to just plain frusterated. She slapped him hard, and the crack of it echoed.
"Tell me where it is!" Ana demanded, the anger hardening her voice. Noah still didn't say anything.
Suddenly Sydney was grabbed from bahind, the arm choking her. "Drop the gun!" A deep voice demanded. Sydney let her gun clank onto the floor.
"Gminski," Ana said. "What's going on?"
The man, Gminski rather, pulled Sydney out into the center of the room. "I found his little girlfriend."
What do you think???
