Horror Sleepy Hollow (Fox)

Looks like John Cho likely won't be back on Sleepy Hollow or, if he is, not much. He is starring in a new ABC comedy with Karen Gillan (Doctor Who).

I'm not sure which I'm more surprised at... two successful actors taking on a comedy sitcom that, in my prediction, won't last more than a season or seeing Karen Gillan in an American TV series at all let alone a half-hour comedy.

I just watched the first episode/ pilot last week on Thursday. I wonder if it was just for that week or it will be airing the whole season now up until the second series premiere. Either way I can't wait for the new season and what happened or is going to happen to all the characters.

I haven't yet seen the second season premiere trying to catch up on all the new shows, have recorded many already and the week's not over yet. So looking forward to it. Previews looked so good to.

I love x10 this show! It keeps me guessing throughout the show and I love the way they have incorporated the supernatural into colonial American history, fantastic writing.

The guy that plays Crane is awesome as is the character. Great casting.

I'll wait until next week before talking about the current season then but I will say one thing: If you watch the end of S1 and then immediately watch S2, you might think you missed something for the 1st half of the S2E1 episode before it clears itself up. When I was watching the S2 premiere I was half-convinced that maybe an I missed an episode and this was really S1E2 or something.

I think that is one of my favorite parts as well. I am a fan of 'alternative history' type works (eg: what if the Allies lost WWII, etc.) and weaving historical events & people into the stories of Sleepy Hollow is something I'm really enjoying watching. So far the writers have done a great job with it.

I just watched the Season 2 premiere last night, so much going on and so exciting. At first when I started watching, I thought I missed something from before then going on watching the show I got it and felt fooled for a moment. I liked seeing John Cho back even if it was just for a few brief moments. I wonder if the show he is currently on doesn't make it, if the door will be or has been opened for him to return for future episodes.

I too was lost in the premier of S2E1. I actually finally went back and watched the last 10 minutes of last seasons finale before I was satisfied I was current. I had a feeling originally of what was going on and then started to think I was just wrong, lol. What a mindtrip.

I'm not sure I like the direction they are going with the 'demon baby' arc.

The freelance bounty hunter seems to be taking on a bigger role as the episodes go on. One of the episodes mentioned having to raise their own army for the upcoming fight so I wonder if we'll be seeing a lot more characters coming aboard.

I really need to catch up with the show, I have been watching it intermittenly. Finale I think is tonight. I'm still going to watch but seriously need to catch up on previous episodes so behind.

S1 episodes were more self-contained while S2 episodes concentrated almost entirely on a single story with characters like the Headless Horseman taking a back seat to Crane & Katrna's son. I had a funny feeling this was going to happen -- ratings went way down. If you missed an episode of S1 you could watch another and not lose too much of the overall story but in S2 missing even part of an episode resulted in being unable to follow the story.

Fox is working on fixing it to bring back the series more to the flow of S1. (y)

Fox TV chairman and CEO Dana Walden told critics at the TCA press tour that the show will be less serialized and have a slightly lighter tone in the future. “We’re excited about some creative changes on the show and bringing it back to something that feels a little more episodic in nature, that has closure and doesn’t feel quite so serialized,” she said. “But we really love the show. We love Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie. They have fantastic chemistry. We feel like it’s a really unique series.

Walden later clarified. “We are responding to a little bit to — not necessarily the criticisms — but this show has a high level of difficulty,” she said. “It’s a relationship show, a period show, you have iconic characters, you’re trying to tell mysteries and the show got a little overly serialized this past season. It’s very difficult on a show like this to get the exact right balance. Honestly, we felt watching the show, as passionate viewers, the show got too serialized. As part of our diagnostic process on any show, we tried to determine what’s working and what’s not working. We’re trying to return the fun to it a little bit. It’s an epic battle between good and evil, so there’s a tendency to be a little dark. It’s all about calibrating the show, not about making dramatic changes.

Having said that, Walden said there’s no current plans to make any cast changes. “We don’t have any creative changes [planned],” she said. “It was more [about] having a show that’s easier to access week to week that you don’t have to feel like if you tune into episode three of our new run, that you have to go back and watch the first two. So some greater procedural stories and maybe toning down a little bit the apocalyptic vision that existed in the initial episodes this season.”

Does any one know if this has been renewed for another season? I missed a few episodes here and there and stupidly forgot to DVR them. I really want to catch up and have another season.

It hasn't been announced yet. There are a few months yet on the contracts for the show so Fox still has time to renew for a third season if they choose to.

The S2 finale wrapped up a few items but left plenty open for a S3 and more.

Well, now, here's something I wasn't expecting... a Sleepy Hollow crossover with another Fox series, Bones. Say, what?! One is a supernatural show that intertwines US history with fighting demons while the other is a light police procedural that borders on the 'rom-com' genre. Perfect match?

At the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Thursday, first Fox announced this official description about the crossover episodes, which air Thursday, Oct. 29.

On Bones, “the grisly discovery of human remains lead Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) on a hunt for clues, during which they encounter Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), searching for answers of their own. Realizing that they are after the same evidence, they team up to solve the mystery. Then, immediately following on Sleepy Hollow, the intrigue continues as Ichabod’s old nemesis is back from the dead. Ichabod and Abbie need advanced forensic help and expertise to stop him and turn to Brennan and Booth to unlock 18th century secrets using 21st century science.”

A Bones producer likened the crossover’s science-meets-fantasy mash-up to Fox’s The X-Files.

“The Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover is like a great episode of The X-Files, where the Bones hour is the Scully, logic-based perspective and the Sleepy Hollow hour is more Fox Mulder-esque,” said Michael Peterson, executive producer of Bones. “Put them together, and it’s going to be a great two-hour event that fans of both programs are going to love.”

I... I don't know how to react to this one.

The Bones/Sleepy Hollow cross-over airs this Thursday. Bones is at 8PM with a case of headless body that turns up the attention of Crane & Abbie and then at 9PM Bones & Booth end up in Sleepy Hollow.
