The Nancy Drew Series

I read the first one in 2 days! I must admit though, her books are waaaaay better than the Hardy Boys. Also, she never wroter the books. What they did was, they got a whole bunch of ghostwriters to write them and they made up her name. Sorry to break that to you. The same goes for the Hardy Boys books too.

yea i knew that... carolyn keene could never write those many books! but the first ever drew book is The Secret of the Old Clock right?

yes and I knew about the ghostwrite. actually one woman started it in the forties but she is dead now, so the books are ghostwritten...

Nancy was written by men and women...It tarted with a company called Stratemeyer Syndicate that hired a whole bunch of different writers in 1930...Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer...Edna wrote ten books then passed it on to her sister...Harriet is whom most people call "Carolyn Keene"...she wrote 24 books and then went back and updated the books her sister wrote...she removed racial stereotypes, updated the language...that sort of thing...it took about 25 years...while still writing more novels at the same time...Another writer, Mildred Wirt Benson created 23 novels....including the first three...then Walter Craig wrote 3 novels during the Depression...and then Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf wrote some...I'm not sure how many though...

Right now they won't tell us who the writers are...those are just the writers of the classic series...

I just bought about 30 new Nancy Drew books! They're the new ones so they suck...but hey...I'm still excited!

I absolutly loved the Nancy Drew series when i was like in 5th grade! i was sooo into them! Then i read some hardy boys books too, they were alright. They actually have books now that has a book that combines the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew and they were really good..they were probably my favorite series when i was younger

Yea I love the mixed ones! My favorite Is Down Under tha Australia one...its so awesome! Nancy is such a stud in that one! ^_^
