Theatrical Acting

Does anybody else act in community theatre or high school plays?
what did you perform in?

i have been in many small community programs and plays and such.
i was in the King and I(the small princess who runs out late when meeting anna and the one who reads the speech to anna! :D )
i was Brigitta in Sound of Music, and i was chorus in other musicals(go chorus!!! :D )
im hoping to get a good part my senior year but you know choir politics! ;)

Dude Vicki... how many theatre threads did you start!??!  hahah

i've never been in a play but next year i'm going to try out!

Derek and I co-stage-managed (OK, it isn’t acting, but it IS an under appreciated job) Bye Bye Birdie, and that's it for me (unless you count elementary school plays)(although I've helped out with other plays).

i'm doing drama next year im so excited :woot: i can't wait . . . the play we are doing well wut i heard is GREASE :woot: i luved that movie and it would be so much fun to be a part of . .. but i am not sure yet if i should join the club since this is my first time in drama

Okay...elementary flashbacks!!! (Since we did no plays in Middle School!)
-Erm...I was the announcer person in the stupid Spanish Pagents. (For 4 years!!! Argh...I was stuck with the crummy job!...I wanted to be a runway model...erm yes there were run way models in the pagent and they got to come out in names like armani, versace, ect. y is was this in the spanish pagent i don't know)
-I was the defense attorney, ugh wat was the name of the book we read...we reacted the court seen.
-Achilles!!! Yep, I was a guy! That was a fun role. In the play Troillus n Cressida...we did some reinactment and erm it was based mainly on Achilles's revenge on Hector. :D
-I was one of the orphan kids in Annie.
-Flamenco Dancing....well thats not acting.
-Oh and I had to do some chinese ribbon dance thing during the multicultural show. (not acting either)
-oww! And I did a tap dance solo during the Holiday Pagent!
-Erm i can go on with dancing, i'll stop.

Well we never really had a good drama program and we don't get one until highschool, but when I was in Grade 5 I was in the High School production of The Music Man (I was Amaryllis) and then we did things like The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty in elementary, but they were kinda messed. Like, in Sleeping Beauty, it was sort of a spin-off, so there were 2 people, one was telling the story to a younger one, and they never got to go ON the stage, just in front of it on some steps. Lucky me, I had to tell the whole story. ^_^

i know it is a very underappreciated job but it is really important!
at my school the crew and the cast are completly divided and its like a mini civil war! but i try to bring the two together being that one of my good friends is on crew! but it is a very important job, i mean without lights, sound and set, there would be no musical it would be a bunch of actors on stage without reality setting in, technical aspect of theater adds so much to a performance that it helps the audience imagine it as real life!

and i see mnay are putting dance so i will to: um...about 10 to 11 years of dance, three years competiting! :D i love the stage! :D

I loooove School Productions and Plays! We do one evry year at school but I suck at acting and singing so I don't do them. But at school we compete in teams in an Arts Festival. We have to write and perform a script, create a dance, make props/costumes, have a vocals and instrumental group and all with a budget. Heaps of fun!!! :D :D

Anyway besides that my friend who is sooo good at singing (was red ridinghood in the primary school play), she's soo good at dancing-was on pointe for about 2 yrs before quitting and taking up Taekwondo and boy can she act!!! She's gonna be in a school productrion of Guys and Dolls and I can't wait to see her!! :woot: :woot:

here we go... i've been in countless plays, including...

the wizard of oz
aesop's fables
just so stories
molly's pilgrim
snow maiden (title role)
my father's dragon
morris the moose
peter rabbit
henry and ramona (title role)

so ya ^_^

eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! hooray, theater freaks! ^_^ lessee, middle school i was jewish person No. 43 in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, then we did this thing we made up called Alice's Adventures on Broadway and i was the bunny ^_^. high school plays:Little Women (little girl who harassed amy), Clue, Father of the Bride, Trick or Treat (i was a PORTRAIT, a la scooby doo. i didn't move. there were times i regretted accepting this role.) musicals: fiddler on the roof, carousel (june is busting out all over ^_^), crazy for you (featured vocalist! moving up in world!), and guys and dolls (mission band; carried bass drum. again, pain. oh, what i endure for the sake of theater!) well, i'm off to college where i claim i'll devote more time elsewhere, but we'll see about that. at the very least, i'm doing Joseph again--blast from the past!-- and becoming a techie for the other shows. that is all! *curtsy*

It's great to know other people who also love community theater/plays. Ok, let's think of what I've been in.

The little Red Hen (my kindergarten play ;) I was the lead--yeah!)
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Fiddler on the Roof
A Christmas Carol
Annie
The Music Man

And then a 3 school plays. ("Robin Hood", "Pirate Island", and "Krazy Kamp" which was cool because I had a big role, with two solo songs.)

So, I'm slowly working my way up in roles. Not had too many lead but it's all the same to me, because I just love being there and I have the best director/friend in the world.

Rock on for that! i love my director... i haven't gotten any big roles either and i've kind of learned to get used to it. i kind of like being a little person, less is expected of me. tho i hope i get real lines someday, and a name! *sigh*

and hooray for fiddler! that was the best show ever, freshman year. i was in awe of all the leads, the chorus had a really cool part, and we even kind of danced.... (okay, it was syncronized walking. but still!) And the music man (he's a what? he's a what? he's a music man and he sells trombones and ratatat drums...) my director was marion in that at her church, and tho she has a son my age she could pull the whole 27 thing off. i love that show, all my friends were in it!

Hmm...well my talented friend hasn't got a lead-she was too short. Since when were there height restrictions????
Anyway we're an all-girls school so the boys school who is doing everything but the girl bits so they picked about 10 girls to be in the whole thing. So the two leads are, Adelaide and Sarah who are played by a girl with a fantastic voice another whos a year younger. My friend is only in the chorus and all because of her shortness! Seriously can't wait to see her !! :woot:

That sounds like me, are you sure we dont know each other?!
That exact same thing happened to me these last two years(reasons why i didnt make it two years ago and last year i was chorus, but i played it as best as i could! :D it was still fun but it made me mad!)
so im hoping this year he looks past height and on to talent, not that im saying i have a talent, i just think im better than chorus....but i dont even know that! oh well i would like to be something other than chorus!

shortness doesn't matter! it's the talent! I want to be an actress so bad that it actually hurts! i know you think i'm nuts but it's true...
no your not nuts! i agree with you, i just have a passion for acting and listening to musicals and watching them i just ache to get up on stage!
