SANTA MONICA, Calif., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Filming is underway in Los Angeles on Revolution Studios' "13 Going on 30," a comedy starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo and directed by Gary Winick, it was announced today by Revolution Studios Partner Todd Garner. The film is scheduled for a Spring 2004 release by Columbia Pictures.

On the eve of her 13th birthday, all Jenna Rink wants is to be pretty and popular. After a humiliating experience with the coolest kids in school, Jenna makes a desperate wish for a new life. Miraculously her wish comes true, but with one catch... she's only five days away from her 30th birthday.

"13 Going on 30" is being produced for Revolution Studios by Donna Arkoff Roth and Susan Arnold of Roth/Arnold Productions, who produced "America's Sweethearts," "Forces of Nature," "Grosse Point Blank," "Unstrung Heroes" and "Benny & Joon," and Gina Matthews, who produced "What Women Want," "Urban Legends: Final Cut," and "Urban Legend." The script is by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, who wrote "What Women Want" and for the television series "The King of Queens," and Niels Mueller, who wrote "Tadpole."

"We are glad to be re-teaming with Donna and Susan and working with Gina as well as welcoming the phenomenal talent of our cast and crew," said Revolution Studios Partner Todd Garner. "This lead role is tailor made for Jennifer, who has shown her range and talent on TV and recently on the big screen."

Jennifer Garner, who plays Jenna, is best known for her Golden Globe- winning performance as Sydney Bristow in television's "Alias." She was most recently seen opposite Ben Affleck in the action film "Daredevil." Garner's other credits are "Catch Me if You Can," "Pearl Harbor" and "Dude, Where's my Car?"

Mark Ruffalo, who plays Garner's childhood friend and love interest, is currently starring in the drama "XX/XY." He will next be seen in the psychological thriller "In the Cut" with Meg Ryan. Ruffalo's other credits include "Windtalkers," "The Last Castle" and the critically acclaimed "You Can Count on Me."

Rounding out the cast are Judy Greer ("Adaptation," "The Wedding Planner," "What Women Want"), who plays Lucy, Garner's best friend; Kathy Baker ("Assassination Tango," "The Glass House," "The Cider House Rules," television's "Picket Fences"), who plays Garner's mother; Phil Reeves ("About Schmidt," "Moonlight Mile," "Election"), who plays Garner's father; Andy Serkis ("The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," "24 Hour Party People"), who portrays Garner's boss; and Samuel Ball ("The Last Castle"), who portrays Garner's boyfriend.

Gary Winick most recently directed the romantic comedy-drama "Tadpole," for which he received the Director's Award at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.

Revolution Studios was formed by Joe Roth in May 2000 to independently produce and finance films in partnership with Sony Pictures, Starz Encore Group and Fox Entertainment Group.
