Timing is Everything

Here is the prologue. Chapter One will be up soon!

This isn't just about the happy couple, in fact, it isn't really about them at all. Sydney and Vaughn are happy, yes, but that doesn't really matter in the larger schemes of this fic. Sark is what this story is about, he is the protagonist.

Some of you may be wondering why the heck I just named him the protagonist. Well, there are two reasons: (1) nothing in the definition of a protagonist says that the person is good, all it says is that that person is where the action centers around and (2) Sark is never really highlighted in the show, so why not give him his very own fic with a new girlfriend too...

So, Anna (aliasgirl000) and I have decided to write this story. She will post chapter one, then I'll do 2 et cetera et cetera. Hopefully, it will be up as soon as possible.

;) Kate and Anna

Chapter One: The Beginning of the End

"I pronounce you man and wife." Micheal lifted Sydney's vail. Then they shared their most memorable moment.

The doors of the chapel burst open and the happy couple left the building. Irina watched her daughter's wedding from the shadows. At least she could say that she had been there.

The limo's doors opened wide and Sydney and her husband got in. They were filled to the brim with happiness.

"We did it," Sydney said.

"Of course," Micheal said.

The limo took them back to Sydney's apartment, where they went inside to grab her bags. Then the limo stopped at Micheal's apartment, where they got hold of his bags (and said goodbye to the dog). Then the limo set on a straight course to the airport. They left the limo and headed for the private jet that would take them to San Trope (sorry there is supposed to be an accent over the e). Once they were inside the jet, the happy newly-weds settled comfortably in the back for martinis and chatting. And then the plane arrived, and the couple left the plane.

"We're here," Sydney said to her husband while they walked away from the plane and into the beautiful setting sun. Mr. Vaughn smiled at her.

"The riviera was where my parents had their second home," he said. Then he took her hand as they got into a taxi. The taxi took them to their hotel. The room which they had rented was on the top floor, with an amazing view, especially from the balcony. That night, the two sat peacefully together on the balcony, and later in bed.

good job! michael is spelled "ae" though. sorry i know its not important. i like it a lot though. its a very very fast pace, but i guess that makes sense because the story is actually about sark. post more soon!

Sorry about the "ae" thing. NOW Anna knows.

Chapter Two: The Watchers

Meanwhile, Sark was watching them from a secret camera installed in one of the wreaths above the alter in the church.

“Such a lovely couple,” he murmured to the woman next to him.

She smiled back and replied with a thick French accent, “Yes, too happy for my tastes. So what are we going to do about them?”

“For the moment, my dear, absolutely everything,” he grinned evilly.

“I love it when you do that.”

“What, this?” And without further ado, Sark leaned over and planted a kiss on his girlfriend’s mouth.

“No, but that’s good too.”

Ellie Arbre, Sark’s latest girlfriend, and a most powerful spy, had intense hazel eyes and blonde hair. She had unusually dark eyelashes for a girl with blonde hair. She was tall, thin, and about twenty years old. Many thought that she was too young to be in the spy business, but that was just to her advantage because no one would suspect that she would be infiltrating high security buildings and conning rich businessmen out of their money. All in all, she was the perfect person to be high up in the CEF, Coup d’Etat Francais.

The CEF was actually like SD-6 in a way because it lied to most of its employees. Basically, as the name suggests, the CEF was an organization that recruited French radicals that wanted to overthrow the current French government and replace it with a communist one. But, that actually was just a cover, and in some senses a secondary goal. What the CEF was really after was anything and everything to do with Rambaldi. Only the most elite officials actually knew what the true objective was, and Sark and Ellie were two of them.

After finishing their make-out session, Ellie asked, “So what are we really going to do about them?” remembering their original conversation.

“Well, you don’t have to worry one bit. You just have to come with me down to San Trope and give them a good scare. If the situation presents itself, we can always do more along the lines of kidnapping,” his eyes glinting evilly again.

Thanks for reading. Anna will put up the next part.

Chapter Three: Sark’s Mission

Sark and left immediately for San Trope to intercept the newly-weds. He had plans for them. He didn’t work very much with Sloane or Irina any longer. He preferred being a top agent at CEF.

Ellie stayed behind in the van, watching Sark’s movements from a pin on his jacket that had been enstalled earlier that day by Sark. Ellie was preparing to call her old “friend” Anna Espinosa at Sark’s signal. Ellie didn’t like Anna very much for several personal reasons, but she had her orders.

Sark asked the clerk in the lobby of the hotel if the Vaughns had checked in yet, and if so where the happy couple was. At the reply “pool,” Sark nodded and went out back.

From a secluded place, Sark watched the two people enjoying themselves in the shallow end of the outdoor pool. Somehow he had to lure Mr. Vaughn away from Mrs. Vaughn without her noticing. Luckily, Sark didn’t have to do anything at first since Michael Vaughn (ha see I got it right, kate!) left the pool without Sydney to visit the men’s room.

Sark followed him down a hall and up the elevator to the bathroom door. Sark looked both waysm and before Michael could move he shot him with a tranquilizer gun. The victim stumbled so Sark rushed to him and supported him all the way back to the parking lot where Ellie was waiting. Along the way, he pressed a button on his pin.

Ellie received the signal and blew a kiss at Sark’s image on her computer screen. Then she went to her small black cell phone and reluctantly picked it up.

Back in L.A., Francie picked up her cell phone. Her face a mask, she said, “Hello?”

“Nous avons fini*,” Ellie said and hung up. Anna (Francie) nodded stiffly and put down her cell phone. It was time to go back. Her job here was done.

*We are done. (Ellie’s code to Anna.)

Please PM me if you find any mistakes and I'll reread as soon as I get this up. Chapter Five will be up later to today (friday) or tomorrow (saturday) IF we get reviews. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Chapter Four: Panic

About five minutes after Vaughn left the pool Sydney began to worry. Where could he be, she wondered. How long does it take men to go to the bathroom? She decided that she’d wait another minute or two before getting someone to go look for him.

The seconds ticked by seeming like an eternity. Finally after about a minute, she couldn’t take it anymore. Her heart was pounding with worry. Where could he be?

She quickly swam to the side of the pool, which proved harder than normal because he feet and legs felt like lead. Once she managed to get out of the pool, she grabbed her towel and rushed over to a male pool attendant.

“Excusez-moi Monsieur?*”

“Oui madame?”

Sydney continued in French, “My husbands been in the bathroom for longer than usual and I’m afraid that he might be sick. Would you please check for me?” She tried to smile, but only managed a small one because of the amount of worry building up inside her.

“Sure. Please follow me.”

They retraced his steps exactly, the whole time Sydney was hoping against hope that he would be in there.

Once they arrived in front of the men’s room, the pool attendant opened the bathroom door and went in. A moment later he came out again with a worried expression. “Je suis desole, mais il n’est personne aux toilettes.**”

“Are you sure that you checked every possible place?” Sydney said trying to keep the panic from her voice.

“Je pense, mais si vous voudrais j’y vais encore…***”

“Non, ce n’est pas necessaire. Merci.”

The pool attendant turned around and walked back to the pool. Sydney’s emotions started to build and explode with every passing second. At first she wanted to cry, for she was so worried about him. Then her panic stricken sadness turned into anger and contempt. Finally, she aggressively walked back up to their hotel room, grabbed her cell phone, and called the CIA.

“Hello?” Weiss answered after two rings.

“Vaughn is missing. I think he’s been captured,” Sydney said so quickly and incoherently that all Weiss heard was “Vaughn” and then panicky noises coming from the other end of the line.

“Sydney? Hold on. You’ve got to slow down. I can’t understand a thing you just said.”

At this point Sydney was back to being on the verge of tears. “He’s been taken,” she said trying to calm her voice.

“What?! Holy felgercarb! Okay Sydney, stay right where you are. I’m going to get Kendall and call you back as soon as I get him on the line. You’re on your cell right?”

“Yah.”

“Okay Sydney. Everything is going to be all right,” Weiss said more to reassure himself than anybody else.

“Bye.” And then Sydney hung up.

Ring. Ring. Sydney jumped as her cell phone rang in her hands. Weiss couldn’t be calling back that quickly, could he, Sydney thought. She quickly pressed the “talk” button and answer the call. “Hello?”

“Hello Miss Bristow, or should I say Mrs. Vaughn?” a distinct male voice came over the phone. Sark.

*Excuse me sir?
Yes ma’am.

**I’m sorry, but no one is in the bathroom.

***I think, but if you want I’ll go in again…
No, that won’t be necessary. Thank you.

Thank you all for reading. We really appreciate it and :smiley:wub:smiley: if you like it, you could maybe nominate it in the contest, but you don't have to. Thanks again.
