Tonys

did anyone watch the tonys? or was i the only one?
i was upset that Marissa Winkour won over Bernadette Peters. I love Bernadette Peters, she is extremely talented and if you watched the whole of the awards you saw her perform rose's turn from Gypsy! and she was outstanding, acting and singing! where as Marissa is just good at acting becuase i think her voice is too squeaky but that is just my opinion.
same as harvey Fierstien(sp!) he is an excellent actor but during the musical it hurt my throat to listen to him!

i was excited that la boheme was nominated being an opera and directed by baz luhrmann(my favorite director of all time ever since romeo and juliet!)
and that is won for set design!

i was also excited to see that billy joel and michelle pawk won(i wanted to see her in Hollywood Arms but it closed in two months, but i was still glad she won becuase she was amazing mayzie in suessical!)

i loved the def poetry jam, i would have really liked to seen that on broadway. i loved how they each spoke, it was very cool!

okay your thoughts on the tonys?! any? who should have won? who shouldnt have?

have you seen the musical? i have and i was disappointed, they didnt do my favorite part where the Vantussels sing "no we cant....yes we caaaannn!"LMAO! but yes its a very entertaining musical! so much fun! and hilarous, i couldnt stop laughing!

i really liked the moving out performance, those dancers are amazing!!my jaw was dropped the entire time(like when bernadette peters performed! wow, she is so talented!)

Wow, you're lucky Victoria to get to see so many shows!
I too was really disappointed Bernadette didn't win. She was definitely deserving, and it would have been such a triumph for her after people said she was wrong for Mama Rose. But her performance on the show was triumph enough I guess - she wowed 'em! She sure gave me goosebumps!

The Def Poetry bit was really great! I had no idea I would enjoy that as much as I did.

yes i am very lucky, im glad my mother is a huge theatre enthusiast(aka geek!LMAO mattewh broderick was hliarous! ^_^
i know bernadette peters was amazing and did you know that that cast(including bernadette) are going into the studio to record the revival soundtrack for gyspy?! im so excited for it to come out!

and i was suprised too about the def poetry jam, i thought i wouldnt like it either but i loved it! i loved the line about metaphors getting jealous of simlies!

even though i was upset that bernadette didnt win i was happy for marissa afterall i loved what she said("a four eleven chubby girl could be a leading lady and get a tony!~im four eleven!!! :D ;) )

I missed them :(
When I have my own life (when I'm older) I will go to plays and musicals all the time! I love theatre.
One day, I might write for the theatre, I wish

~~Spongy!

oo you missed a good one! hugh jackman was an excellent host! i finally got my hands on the boy from oz soundtrack and i really want to see that as well as Wicked now!

i cant wait for this years tonys! I hope Wicked cleans up! it should, no doubt about it!

and Hunter needs to get himself another nod!

well this hasnt been unearthed in a while. Might as well bring it back after a year! afterall there has been another tony awards!
shall i start the discussion?! hopefully im not the only one that was camping out all day with popcorn!

hugh jackman as host: AMAZING once again(and if you can see him in boy from oz, go now! musical is horible, but he is amazing! ;) well worth it before it closes!) it was hilarous what he did with jessica!

idina menzel winning: should have been kristin. only thing saying there.

tonya pinkins performance: really flat and full of cracks but full of emotion and wonderful stage presence. I really liked this scene in the musical but out of context it wouldnt hold my interest. the cracking helps creat more sorrow for her character but if one didnt know anything about the musical they might be wondering why her?! but still great job.

assasins performance: i have always loved this song. its soo eerie and yet hopeful.

wicked performance: i was disappointed in idina menzel. i thought she went really off key and the acting wasnt that great. but its wicked and and wicked is amazing!

avenue q: where the heck did that come from?! thats what everybody was thinking. Did anyone else see all the posters for it. they completly took off election theme, hilarous posters, kept right in tune with the musical. some of the songs i really like (ie for now, ba in english, the theme and few more) most of it is too much cussing and vulgarity. some times it feels pushed like its just there for the sake of being there.
and i really dont think you can even begin to compare wicked to this but i bet the voters were going for original although a backstory on wizard of oz is quite original, whatever. i was quite shocked!

well enough talk out of me!

i was so happy that IDINA WON!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!

i seriously wanted Wicked to win best musical SO BAD!!! but i was SO happy Idina won cuz she was SO awsome!

oh! someone who roots for the green girl!!!! I love idina! but im a bigger kristin fan! she hit a high E when i saw wicked and im sorry but anyone could can hit that note eight times a week deserves a tony!

but if it wasnt kristin, im glad it was idina!!!!! because she is just terrific!

have you seen any other shows?! i cant wait to see little women, must start a thread on that to see if anyone knows about that! they should it has the fabulous sutton in it!
