Verizon FiOS

It's been a long week! I've been offline more than on this week thanks to work, home/family, and a horrible DSL connection at the house that would disconnect frequently throughout the course of the day. Between its slow speed and disconnects the DSL was driving me nuts.

Well, there is not much I can do to fix work and home/family but thanks to Verizon I can fix my internet connection. :D At the house we've switched from DSL + DirecTV to Verizion FiOS internet + TV. Woohoo! It will take a bit to get used to the new TV interface and channel lineup but so far I am loving the internet connection.

Here is random sample of before... :cry:

As part of the switch to fiber our POTS (Plain Old Fashioned Telephone System) landline was switched to a digital service. I can now view call logs to the house on my cell phone or a browser and retrieve voice mail from anywhere also. From my Android phone I can check who called, view a log of voicemail and listen to them, and, if the phone number is associated to any contacts in my phones contacts then then voice mail entry is automatically associated with them in the listing.

Excellent! :cool:

For anybody else with FiOS, this weekend they are doing another "Free Preview" of HBO & Cinemax. Starts Friday, September 29 and ends Monday, October 2.

When they does these previews it gives a chance to record some stuff on the DVR that is exclusive to those channels.

Dude, switch to Xfinity! I have used Comcast and it is just as good if not better that FiOS. I have a friend that use to use Fios, but he has switched finally as well. No I am wired for Fios myself, but I have an upgraded connection for Xfinity. I have it's triple play package, so I have Cable TV, Internet, and phone where I have my Fax Modem connected to that line. Now I also have a land line for my home phone use. Yes all of my family also have cell phones from Verizon as well too. At the least compare the price cost between the two.

Switch....that is EVIL!!!
I used to have Comcast for years. I'm outside of Philly, Comcast is everywhere. Around here for people who have had to put up with them Comcast is Evil incarnate.

I have to give their marketing department some credit though, the number of people I've run across who have "switched" from Comcast cable to "Xfinity" is amazing. Me: "You know that is still Comcast, right?" Them: "No, it's Xfinity." Me: "Xfinity is just a marketing name by Comcast." Them: "No, it's Xfinity." Me: {not sure if joking or not :cautious:}
