What Are You Reading Right Now?

I opened this thread last time, so I thought I'd do it again...

Naturally most of what I've read is science fiction.

I've veered off for the moment and am reading a book I catalogued in my kids primary school library (where I volunteer).
It's titled "Don't call me Ishmael!" by Michael Gerard Bauer, and Australian.

I gotta say, while this is supposed to be a 'mature read' for primary (or elementary) aged children, I haven't found a book as riveting as this since Harry Potter.

It's purely a book about bullying and a sick kid, nothing science fiction or fantasy in it at all.

I'm also reading a science fiction book by another Aussie called "A place to fear" by G,M Hague.
This combines aliens, zombies and ghosts in an interesting manner.

I'm also reading a water-wise gardening book. Living in the great land of Oz, we need to know how to preserve water....(y)

I'm very sad to say that the only reading I've been doing lately is tech manual for work. :( We are required to have a certain amount of training each year and so I've been cramming in my hours needed for 2007.

The Golden Compass is on my 'curiosity' list because of the controversy surrounding the movie. Hopefully after the new year I'll be able to go back to reading something other than programming language manuals.

i started the book with no name by anonymous, i believe it started out on the net and has been published since, its kind of like a tarantino film crossed with a micheal marshall smith novel with british humour set in america, its not really sci-fi but it has an element of fantasy to it. Obviously its been written by a brit, because i dont think i've ever heard an american utter the words "christ on a bike"
