Horror World War Z

No and heck no! Let's see...
  • $50 per person to see a movie?! Are they nuts? That is a couple of months subscription cost to Netflix and/or Hulu.
  • 3D glasses generally suck for people who wear prescription glasses. :geek:
  • For $50 you only get a small popcorn and not even a drink? :coffee:
  • The movie is not even a faithful adaption of the book. :bookworm:
  • So a digital copy, not even an actual DVD or Blu-Ray? :oldman:
Definitely a no from me too.. I complain about paying £7 to go to the cinema!

Paramount International has release a clip titled "Philadelphia" that is from the WWZ opening. Aside from the fact that it was actually show in Glasgow, Scotland, and not Philadelphia in the US, it makes me wonder what the incubation time is from being infected to going full zombie because in this clip it looks like the 'swarm' is getting bigger at the same time as the people are fleeing from it to the point where it is hard to tell one from the other.

!

OK, I went to see World War Z last night. I can tell you It was a very good movie. Not a lot of gore but a lot of action and it had a really good plot. I don't like many of Brad Pitts movie but this one was, in my view, well put together.

It Is A Must SEE.....

Don, thanks for posting your thoughts on WWZ! (y) The movie has been getting mixed reviews but it seems to be boiling down to those who wanted it stick to the source material versus those who are just wanting to watch & enjoy the movie.

World War Z was originally planned as a trilogy but the troubles with the production of the first movie and the blown budget made most people assume that those plans were in doubt. It seems however that the opening weekend results is making Paramount a bit more comfortable with those initial plans.
A person close to Pitt's "World War Z" told The Associated Press on Monday that Paramount Pictures is likely to develop a sequel to the apocalyptic zombie thriller. The person was not authorized to announce the plans and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The film opened strongly over the weekend, earning $66.4 million domestically and another $45.8 million internationally. That put it on course to easily recoup its production budget of about $200 million. Reviews, too, have been mostly positive, and the film earned a B+ CinemaScore from moviegoers over the weekend.

I wasn't that impressed with this film but at least it was better than I was expecting it to be and am now wondering if there will be a sequel.

Anyone have the chance to watch this yet? I have heard tons of mixed reviews. I am not sure I should be waiting for it to come out (to rent or buy) from what I have heard. Did I miss something? I thought this was supposed to be, or it looked like it to me, a pretty decent movie.

Opinions?

I figured that :P I never really read books that are made into movies (besides Ann Rice, though her books are a bit more "erotic", maybe that is the more calm word lol).

Really? Not even the vampire ones? Did you read all of them? lol They get pretty erotic... if that is even the word for it.
I've read all the vampire ones, I found the first two entertaining, then she kinda lost the plot. There are supposed to be shades of homo-erotica in there, but I simply can't believe that everyone who gets turned into a vampire automatically becomes gay.. any more than I'd believe everyone would go from being gay to straight. But there's absolutely no sex in any of the vampire books, because none of them can get it up because her vampires are truly dead.

Now if you read her Beauty series... that's erotica.

My wife and I just checked this one out on DVD. Not a bad movie. Seemed like Pitt lacked emotion when dealing with his character's family. Then again, maybe that was the actor's way of conveying his character was shifting gears into a "taking care of business" mode without letting his emotions get in the way. Overall, I liked the movie enough to say it kept my attention. My wife said the book differs from the movie quite a bit, but that didn't bother her very much. The fast zombies were cool when in action sequences, but I didn't find the close up shots all that creepy.

Back to World War Z - finally got to see this last week. I'm not sure what I expected really - read many reports both positive and negative. Didn't gel for me as a "classic" zombie movie (which I'm fine with as I'm not really a zombie fan). But it wasn't awful. Lots of action scenes, Brad did well.

DVD you say? {Kevin scuttles off to Netflix....} OK, added to my queue. Not available for streaming yet but it'll show up eventually in the mail.

So what was the general consensus on WWZ? It seems to have fizzled out hype wise but still made a lot of money. Will it go down as a 'zombie classic' or is it destined to be forgotten?
