Jeez, how many times can they milk this cow dry?

Variety magazine is reporting that another Dune remake is in the works...

Peter Berg seems to have come quite a long way from his Aspen Extreme and Chicago Hope days.

i agree. too many more times (this would be one of them) and people are not going to be receptive to it. i enjoyed the '84 movie and it is one of my favorites. the mini-series i could not get into too much. after seeing william hurt in Body Double back in the 80's i lost interest in his work.

i will of course give this one a fair shake yet time will tell.

There must be hundreds of decent scifi works out there to turn into films. Why keep hammering away at the few they do? Stupid idea really.

I watched Southland Tales testerday and can't believe I put it off as long as I did due to bad reviews. It turns out it was the reviewers themselves that were bad. The film was great, was a sum total of general knowledge crafted into a story. Those that didn't get it probably don't get the world either :)

i learned a long time ago not to listen to reviews. if they say it is bad then it really is good. i have never seen southland tales but now will watch it.

you know they made i robot so why not make the rest of the trilogy? or better why not the ringworld series. that would be awesome to watch

Yeah, I have very little faith in reviews as well. Too many films are bad reviewed and turn out to be good. Some have good reviews and are felgercarb. I listen to the hype then see what I want.
I've discovered some really good stuff on the independant film channel (IFC).

Not a Hurt fan either since "kiss of the spider woman", what a piece of junk. Yet I did like that remake of Dune. Better than the first one (Sting), which I found.....disturbing in places.

    It was easier to follow?

Reviews couldn't be more personal or subjective. I see for myself, and am proud to say I have a huge collection of critic "Stinkers", which I (in my own little way) have decided, have merit above & beyond popular/critical theory.

Their opinions do not make or break mine.

I'll give the new one a try, and who knows, it may turn out to be the best one yet. If not, I'll be in the mob.....storming the castle to kill the beast !;)

I imagine there will be a surge in movies by A.C. Clarke in the near future.
