    Sci-Fi Foundation (2011)

Stories can be told at various levels. As we've seen before, putting a book word-for-word onto the screen doesn't necessarily work. Film is different. So what is probably the best approach is to just use some of the themes from Foundation to create a film, rather than trying to present...

Sci-Fi Channel Destroying Definition Of Science Fiction

It's on this week, actually. They're now showing the new episodes pretty much the same time they're broadcast in the UK. That's why Syfy doesn't show Doctor Who anymore. BBC America is broadcasting it -- keeping the revenue in the family.

    Fantasy Game of Thrones

We personally don't stick around to watch the commercials, but in passing, while watching some recent recordings from HBO, we haven't seen any mention whatsoever.

Sci-Fi Channel Destroying Definition Of Science Fiction

I think you're thinking of a different channel. Syfy (Sci Fi Channel) first acquired rights to TNG in 2008. Prior to that it was not broadcast on the channel.

    Fantasy Game of Thrones

HBO generally doesn't water things down; if anything, they add sex and violence to things. :)

    Sci-Fi Fringe (2008-13)

In a way, I prefer Dollhouse, but have to admit the Fringe is simply a better show. The things that make me like Dollhouse are paradoxically also things that tend to undercut its quality. That's the biggest difference between Abrams and Whedon: Abrams is a master of the medium, knowing what...

    Sci-Fi Foundation (2011)

I think it is very important to keep in mind that film is a different medium than books. The point of making a book into a movie is to make a movie ([parenthetically] based on the material in the book), not necessarily to put a book inviolate onto the big screen. Most importantly, the audience...

Sci-Fi Channel Destroying Definition Of Science Fiction

August 5: August 20: I was really surprised that Warehouse 13 managed to beat both veteran dramas Saving Grace and Rescue Me. (The others aren't surprising, since I think they suck. :))

Sci-Fi Channel Destroying Definition Of Science Fiction

Re: Science Fiction is the Color of the Paint, not the Paint, nor the Wall You'd be mistaken... it actually is quite a great number of viewers for a cable television program on a network of that sort. Sarah Connor Chronicles was on broadcast television, not cable television. Again, you're...

    Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time

Book 12, now titled The Gathering Storm, has a release date, of November 3. Brandon Sanderson reports that he's more than half-way through with Book 13, scheduled for release Fall 2010. There is a tacit promise on the table to release the fourteenth and final volume in Fall 2011...

Win a free copy of Stargate Atlantis: Fan's Choice on Blu-ray!

I don't have one specific favorite moment but rather a class of moments, all practically identical to each other, where Ronon brought the inane tedium of the minutia, that Stargate Atlantis sometimes got down deep into, back to the reality of what mattered and what was critically important, like...

    Sci-Fi Torchwood (Doctor Who spinoff)

I feel that that is as good of an argument as any to resist the temptation to apply real-world scrutiny to genre-oriented programming. Television is just for fun AFAIC. The objective of a viewer should therefore be to be entertained (because what is being offered isn't typically intended to...

    They're remaking Red Dawn?!

Denying the points that I made isn't the same as me not having made them. I think separate forums is a good idea on paper, but operationally it cannot work out, because, for example, the condemnation of the remake that started this thread should, rightfully, have been in that...

    They're remaking Red Dawn?!

Not with regard to the point I was making; not at all. It sounds like you don't understand the point I was making though. In other words, you disagree with them, and so you dismiss their right to have an opinion contrary to yours. Nothing more. No, I haven't said anything about "all". My...
