Not sure it's such a good investment - I guess it would depend on how good its condition is. If you check ebay for old sets from the 70s you'll see the prices fluctuate but aren't that high. More modern but rarer sets go for crazy money, bur who would pay so much for a few LEGO bricks?

It might've... until you take inflation into account :) Also, I have a feeling the number of parts per set has greatly increased over the last 40 years... but if you think sets are expensive, try buying bricks on a per part basis - it would make your eyes water!
