    What have you seen recently?

Absolutely agree on Daybreakers; lots of unfulfilled potential, lots of disappointment.

looking for stories of humans vs homo superior species!

One that comes to mind is John Brunner's Children of the Thunder, which is about an emerging generation of children who have an evolutionary advantage and use it against the "normal" population. Another great "normal vs. homo superior" story is the Sleepless trilogy by Nancy Kress (Beggars in...

    Fantasy Warehouse 13 (SyFy)

A group of people who track down supernatural items and store them away? No thanks, I've already seen this one. It was back in the 80's and was called Friday the 13th: the Series. How about something with at least a slight amount of originality?

    Sci-Fi Stargate: Universe

    Bullseye!

    Anyone else hate fantasy?

I don't "hate" fantasy, but I'm not overly fond of it either. I used to read a fair amount as a teen, but later in life I've found that science fiction speaks to me much more than fantasy. SF has a lot to say about the real world; fantasy, not so much.

Help with old sci fi show

    No idea here either, sorry.

    Sci-Fi Stargate: Universe

My guess is it'll be a bit more roundabout than that. He'll trip an emergency beacon, or otherwise get the attention of some aliens (either the ones who lost the ship or others), and they'll rescue or capture him, and later they'll encounter the Destiny, and we'll have our happy (for Rush) and...

Sci-Fi Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth

That's a great movie. Shows just how good a sci fi film can be with no special effects.

    Sci-Fi Iron Sky (2012)

Re: Iron Sky - Alternate timeline Nazi PA flick The guys making Iron Sky made a previous film in 2005 called Star Wreck. It's a hilarious and amazingly well-made parody movie combining Star Trek and Babylon 5. See the trailer here. Once upon a time it was available for free online, but no...

    Sci-Fi Stargate: Universe

There have been some weak episodes, but overall I'd say it's one of the better sci fi shows going right now. I, for one, am glad it lacks the overt lightheartedness of the previous series; I like the more serious approach. I also really appreciate the fact that they're not constantly...

    Humans defeating other lifeforms?

Yeah, I've been meaning to read The Genocides for some time now, I really need to make some time for that. I think it's far more common to see these brutally realistic scenarios, in which humanity doesn't win, in literature than in movies. It seems the movies always have to have that hopeful...

    Humans defeating other lifeforms?

That's exactly the viewpoint taken by William Tenn in his novel Of Men and Monsters. When the aliens invade, they take as little notice of us as that farmer takes of the ants, and humanity finds its new role as vermin. They live in the walls of the giant alien homes just like mice live in our...
