I prefer non-vocals for the most part--Chants or Native American flute music. They allow me to concentrate on the task at hand. However, for battle scenes I love tracks 7-9 on the Highlander soundtrack (Queen's, It's a Kind of Magic albumn). Those tracks are awesome, as they get the blood pumping.

I would want to sit down and talk to R. A. Salvatore. I like the pace of his novesl, and his combat scenes are the best I have read. Besides, too many writers have their protagonists save the world, where Mr. Salvatore focusses on smaller matters. The plot is very personal to the protagonists...

No, it was not the story; it was the writing style. The first book seemed to a fair amount of English slang (bloke, bloody...), and not having grown up with that, I found it to take away from the book. However, the books success is very telling of her popularity and ability.

I am not a HP fan. I tried the first book and I did not care for it. I am more of an R.A. Salvatore/Raymond E. Feist fan.

what I look for... I let the cover blurb decide 9 out 10 books I buy, when the author is unkown to me. If it is one of my favorite authors, I buy no matter what.

Publishers I have done a lot of research into publishers (mainly through the Literary Market Place) and I did not know there were so many Scifi Fan publishers. That is is extensive. I take these are small presses for the most part?

Good Books Has anyone read the Dark Elf Series. I know it is through Wizards of the Coast, but R.A. Salvatore has assembled some pretty good writers to carry on his initial writings on the Drow Elves. The writing is very dark, but I liked it.
