Halloween!

We decorate the yard, hand out candy till 9pm. Then just watch TV at home. My dog goes nutz, he hates the Trick or Treat kids...LOL. He doesn't like them taking from his candy caldron!!!

After 9pm, I'm done too, stick a fork in me, I'm exhausted.

OK, the black cat just tops it off and is perfect for the decorating!

9pm is the cut off for the local townships for Trick or Treating locally. Also if your giving candy you turn on a outside light , otherwise if no lights then no one comes to your house because your not giving out candy.
Same here but, every year, there is always a handful who don't seem to understand that lights out and no lights on in front part of the house means don't knock. We don't do much decorating but Mrs. Kevin usually hands out candy until she runs out and then it's lights out.

Even worse...I live in a middle class town and all the locals know each other. So we can see a kid and know whom they are, and name the specific kid(135 homes). We all give extra stuff to the local kids. It is the vultures from other areas that get me pissed off. I normally ask them where are you from? I don't mind so much parents that bring little kids, and I have them take a candy from the bowl. I give them small candy bars for them, but tell the kids to take a hand full (3-4). Now for the local kids I give the large bars like: Reese Peanut Butter Cups (2 cups), Three Musketeers Candy Bar, Snickers Bar, Milky way Candy Bar, and Kit Kat Bar. I let them pick what they want as well, sometimes I give them two bars. I normally go to Cosco and buy a box of each type of candy and then buy two mini bar bags for the others. What really kills me is the older kids that show up and some don't even dress up, but come with a pillow case or trash bag. They really kill me.!My community is pretty safe we have a number of law enforcement neighbors (Police, NJ State Troopers, US Marshals, as well as few DAs). Most if not all of them are my friends, are ex-military, and all our kids are friends as well, and many of them were BSA Scout Master and Merit Badge instructors with me. We all work together to make it a real community for everyone.

My, my how TRICK or TREAT has changed since I was a kid.
Now its just Treat.
Soap and TP is no longer carry items.
So, what's the point? Why even do it? The whole concept is gone.

Either give us a treat or you get tricked.
We used to keep a tally of treat and trick houses.
If you didn't have a bag of goodies at the end of the night, you better have a tally of tricks to show.
When I got too old, I've had my windows soaped and my trees and bushes TPed.
It was just one of those things we dealt with if we ran out of candy.

My parents use to call it Begging. My parents would not let us kids go out for Trick or Treating after we were like 12-13 years, they did give out candy until a couple of years after we kids all grew up and moved away. I let my sons go out, but they stopped about 15 or so. They usually went to parties and my sons are now 21 and 18 and I still give out candy now.

Might go to Disneyland a few days prior to Halloween but not doing anything day of. Not too many kids coming around the neighborhood to tick or treat anymore. So lights turned off before it gets dark. Kind of sad, kids go to parties now.

Yes our community, we have a party on Saturday night for kids and parents. We have lots of food and candy for all, then kids dress up and the older kids have a dance and music. The parents have a awesome food party as well too. All in the same building.
