Seems like they're trying to drag it out to somehow build suspense...that, or their writers are running out of ideas and they needed to stretch things out longer to account for that issue.

And then a really confusing season finale...didn't see that coming, and not sure how they'll get out of this one next season. :-|

The good news though is that a S5 was announced! Based on the S5 teaser at first I thought that maybe they were going to reboot the show with the existing characters revamped in new roles but by the end of the teaser it looks like the characters are back to their mostly normal selves.

My guess is that we'll see several episodes showing an alternate "What if... ?" world before they get out of it and return to where they should be. Honestly, though, I was kind of hoping that the whole "green" storyline was going to get wrapped up in S4 so the show could return back to being about Killjoys.
