Halloween (2018)

The movie only cost $10 million (production) which is pretty low for a Boredwood horror budget. According to BOM, who normally have it correct Studio estimates for Friday are in the order of $33 million, with the latest Myers epic taking out top spot for the day. Early reviews are solid, expecting a $70+ opening weekend, though front end load could be strong with this one.

Halloween (2018) opens Downunder this coming Thursday, 25th, and is up against Brit supernatural outing Ghost Stories that I know some of the team are dead keen to catch up with. Based on the U.S result, and horror being a harder sell in this Country I'm throwing a $3.5 million result on the table a week out from opening night.

And actual earnings was $76,221,545, Mikey Myers is back team.

Remember this one opens tomorrow in Australia kids, heading into a session on Saturday with the crew, we might go via one of the local bars to get our attitudes adjusted.

Here's what I know about the film from a general acceptance point of view.

I've noticed a large number of people commenting on the film and those comments are generally positive.
The return of Jamie Lee Curtis to the franchise is a significant attraction for people.

On another site, in honor of the franchise for Shocktober I posted all the films and the view count immediately skyrocketed. The individual thread for this film has mediocre views but the thread of the entire franchise has more activity.
Here's the link to the thread called Halloween Film Franchise (1978-2018) Michael Myers

I believe, this film would do well in a theater that hosts multiple films of the franchise with it. Like a binge weekend or something.

I know I am looking forward to it but will not watch it till I have watched the other films first, in sequence.
I will be timing this film screening for late Halloween night so to watch all 11 films, I'll be splitting it into two days.

Just got a crazy idea on a temporary business.
A hotel that features long film franchises non-stop, in order over weekends or holidays.
Room rates could be geared to specific genres and have different film franchises on different closed-circuit channels. LOL

Halloween premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2018 and was released in the United States on October 19, 2018, by Universal Pictures.
The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with many considering it to be both the best Halloween sequel and a return to form for the series, and with Curtis's performance being praised.
The film has grossed more than $91 million, making it the highest grossing film in the franchise.

I didn't realize that this was a (relatively) low budget movie; Universal must be pretty happy with it.

I haven't seen it yet but am curious; if this 2018 release essentially ignores the sequels, does Halloween: H2O also with Jamie Lee Curtis get taken out of the equation?

Watched it last night. Most of the Halloween films left me wanting.
This one was okay to watch and worth the price.
Its certainly well made compared to most of the franchise.
I have to proclaim though, of all the films of Michael, Freddy and Jason, Friday the 13th films give better bang for the buck.
H20 was okay, other than that, the first film and this one are the only ones worthy of watching.
Never was a fan of Donald Pleasence tho.

One thing I liked was on the opening titles the Jack-O-Lantern reviving was significant but I wish the eye hole would have materialized into a Jamie Lee Curtis profile. It had a hint of a face that they 'could' have capitalized on. As it is, it went to black.
Seriously tho, I didn't feel it was a waste of money.
