Do games cause violent behavior?

Fox news said, this wacko had friends or family that had em' and he had access to the fire arms.
He didn't "have access" to guns thanks to friends & family, he legally purchased and owned the guns himself. Saying only he had "access" is a disingenuous way of avoiding the issue that this man had a history of mental illness, that the police were called to the family residence several times, and the parents were dismissive of his issues. If that sounds familiar it's because that exact description applies to the Parkland school shooter all over again.

So somebody with a history of mental illness and social issues, described by his own family as having "mental health issues", legally buys guns in Maryland apparently passing all of the checks & requirements, takes them with him to a football video game tournament in Florida, proceeds to kill two people & injuring a dozen others before killing himself as a reaction to losing a round of the football video game, and the conclusion is that it was games that were the cause?!

I got ya bro! I believe gun sales folk need to do back ground and mental illness checks on suspected purchasers at said stores. Somehow this punk slipped through the cracks, but im standing firm on the Doom game causing odd balls to act out their frustrations. Again, the columbine shootings were set up like the game doom. Most of those shootings are from punks that play those games. Hell the punk that shot up the movie theatre dressed up as psyco joker, was high on something and did the unspeakable. One other issue is most of these punks are on drugs, meth, and crack. There has got to be another way to keep this violence from happening? I noticed at Barns & Nobel in a nice strip mall there is heavy security, I chatted with an off duty police officer making extra income, told me that this store gets crowded with wild young punks who have no where to go, and who steal, vandalize and cause trouble. He said he never gets any rest, and parents drop off their kids here because they are cheap and lazy to have some one watch em! That maden football bldg., should have had a metal detector, like all bldgs. where said punks hang out.

This was played at the Jacksonville game bar, I need to know what other games were played there, I did see that it was the madden game tournament he was playing, and the spoiled brat did meet a foot ball hero, there, but I don't believe that they only play foot ball at that game bar. So the point im making is, where the teens play and gather, maybe some security is needed, and they need to be on camera, and a metal detector is needed. Lets be safe out there!

A terrible tragedy occurred today. A video gaming event was going on in Florida, and 1 player was fairly eliminated threw a tantrum and shot up the place. I fully believe that violent games cause this behavior! This was unnecessary, and totally un-warrented! This sick punk felt he had to destroy other lives because he didn't win! Bastard! Its getting to the point where every where americans go we will need armed Security officers. I just bet if you dig up the punks home video game collection, you will find some violent games. This is total proof! Rip other innocent people!
SFD while indeed a tragedy, thoughts to family and friends there, a lot more than gaming is going on here. There's been a concerted effort by the increasingly female lead education sector to make everyone a winner, no one comes second best, and the removal of rough play ground activities. Add in the pandering social media gives to the newer generations that ensures they too are "celebs" for doing sweet FA and you have a potent mix brewing.

Underlying point for mine, removing responsibility for your actions is really going to bite society in the bottom.

The whole subject is busted.
Violence due to game content is an excuse not a scientific constant.
If there were any validity, all game players would exhibit violent behavior as demonstrated in the games.
Think of it as a scientific test.
There must be a control group and a series of levels of saturation which is repeatable with definite results.
Problem is, the only constant in violence is the tendencies of the individuals as they apply to the circumstances of that individual.
In other words, someone who is prone to violence will not require a violent game to set them off. They will be violent whether they play a violent game or not.
Likewise, someone who is not prone to violence will not be violent whether they play a violent game or not.
Thus, there is no direct relationship between violent games, or TV shows or movies with actual personal violent tendencies.
Violence is specific to the individual.

well there are factions of society who are more prone to violence and its because they like it, it makes them feel good and complete, like the police, and the mob....i have heard there is definite link between these types who seek violence and a liking for very realistic, very violent video games.....but if you look into the sky, then read about chemtrail active auroral technologies, then learn about energy and light effects on tthe mind and body, you will see that our enemies have been secretly attacking us through our own stupidity, they have deployed mind control weapons and they call it climate control or communications or whatever.....every pilot knows about this too....so violence is being programmed into us in many ways not just games....the cia and others, kgb, they want to to turn you 180 degrees from what you are, but thats just the attack....even if they turn you only 10-20 percent, thats still a turning, a disrupttion, a dis-ease....and its the way of our lives since we were born here, because many people hate us, because of our leaders and the greed of our military industrial complex.

Humans are a violent species.
We are 'war-like' as George Carlin put it.

However, being a civilized people we have been conditioned to be docile.
Many people have the capacity for violence but choose not to be.
Those who do choose to be violent are so because they choose to un-restrict their human nature.

A person who unleashes their 'savage human self' lack the discipline to maintain their civilized conditioning . For those few, violent video games become a reason to do things they already wanted to do. If a violent game were exposed to 10 people only one or two would choose to express violence.

This indicates the violence is not from the game but from their own desires. If violence in a game made people violent, all people exposed would become violent. Its simple logic based on observation of reality.
