So far it seems to be going the in the direction of blockbuster! Checking Variety, it did $163 million USD its opening weekend.

I know I'm getting old when a game has been out for almost 15 years, has a well received movie based on it, and I've never played the game once let alone have any desire to see the movie.

Well....we watched it.
Enjoyment....me = 10% / her = 5%
Of all my grandchildren only the 4yo will like it.
Kinda like Barney the dinosaur and the Teletubbies.
Why it has such a high rating is beyond me?

I think it's a case of our generation age showing; with the game coming out 15 years ago there's now a demographic where young parents played the game in their teens and now likely have preteens playing it also.

Problem is...if that were all it was it would have been tolerable.
This movie is insulting to my reasoning.
I could tolerate Pixels andthat had Adam Sandler and I cannot tolerate his movies most of the time.
If this had even 5% of Pixels quality it would have been watchable.
I remember thinking Minecraft lovers are probably furious.
