Alias Fans Fight for Vartan
By WENN
............................................
Fans of hit TV series Alias have launched a campaign to save Michael Vartan's character, even though producers have failed to confirm they're killing him off.

Vartan, who plays his former girlfriend Jennifer Garner's on-screen lover Michael Vaughn on the show, reportedly shot his final scenes last week, according to the New York Post.

Insiders claim Vaughn will be killed off in the upcoming series, which will also see pregnant Garner coping with impending motherhood both in real life and on the crime drama.

The news has prompted some fans to launch www.mvcampaign.com, which has been set up to stop any potential Vartan departure.

In a posting on the fansite, one devotee states, "Many of us feel that if this were to occur, it would be showing the show, the viewers, and Mr. Vartan a huge lack of both respect and loyalty.

"We have decided to take action and do something to express our feelings."

LOS ANGELES, CA, United States (UPI) -- ABC refused to comment Tuesday on reports that the "Alias" character played by popular actor Michael Vartan was being killed off.

The New York Post quoted an insider saying Vartan`s final day on the set was Wednesday.

"Entertainment Tonight" said ABC was keeping any upcoming plotlines in Jennifer Garner`s series close to the chest.

At least one Web site organized a fan campaign to try and discourage any kind of move to oust Vartan from "Alias," "ET" said.

The posting at www.mvcampaign.com says: "Many of us feel that if this were to occur, it would be showing the show, the viewers, and Mr. Vartan a huge lack of both respect and loyalty ... So, we have decided to take action and do something to express our feelings to ABC."

well, at least its giving the TPTB at ABC a look inside the minds of the Alias fans ... and especially MV fans ... (y) (y)

If they understand the issue here, then they are lacking the interest in the show, and don't care anymore what happens to Alias ...

I just keep thinking that if the whole thing is a publicity stunt, ABC is going to come out so far ahead on this one. Plus by angering some of the most devoted fans they were almost assured this would happen. More people will probably end up watching from all the buzz. And then if he's gone, they will have to wait and see the fallout... Sounds like a roller coaster.

I can't even begin to estimate how many people will be so devastated that they'll stop watching if and when Vaughn goes

I think that if it is indeed a publicity stunt...it's a darned well screwed up one :hmm:
