Alias Revisits Lost Island

Sidney and her colleagues have been keeping an eye on the island since they left, after their assignment to it. After seeing the hatch blow up on agency satellite feed, decide to visit the island. Nadia has a permanent speech impediment after her being infected. Her speech is halting, pronouncing syllables separately. With Dixon in charge, Sidney and Nadia go back to the island.

[On a hillside Sidney and Nadia look into binoculars]

Nadia: “The –re. See, the water. It –s [hesitates,] low ti –de!”
Sidney: “I see it [calls Dixon].
Dixon: “I’m getting your coordinates from the agency’s satellite.”
Sidney: “Try going towards the water.”
Dixon: “I’m having trouble with it. System is down. Something must be blocking it. It might be solar flares affecting the satellites today. I will check the agency’s NASA satellite hookup.”
Nadia: “Tr –y NA -SA weath -er.”
Sidney: “Type online, not agency, NASA weather.”
Dixon: “Ok, I’m trying to do a close up with infrared on their maps. There seems to be a different colour in a pattern, very small, partly in partly out of the water. Don’t forget this is the area in the Sixties and Seventies the government had a no-fly zone over. Anything that went over this airspace friendly-enemy, was shot down.
It is probably some sort of structure put in place years ago.”
Nadia: “Look!”
[In binoculars Nadia sees the building where the trouble with
Bakunin was taking place.]
Sidney: “I see it.”
Dixon: “Agency satellite is back on, it seems that there has been, according to the cameras we left in place last time we were here, the
place they called ‘The Hatch’ blew up.”
Sidney: “How did it happen?”
Dixon: “For some reason all I’m getting is the explosion itself. Our cameras cut out for quite a while.”
Sidney: “Sabotage?”
Dixon: “Maybe?”

[ From the angle at which they observe the mountain peak what looks to be the surface of a building. Part of the rock has been cut into to create a building that is part man made, part mountain. Dixon’s satellite feed of infrared indicates it has a heat source, an engine room. It also seems to be unoccupied and was perhaps not meant for occupancy but for remote operations. He gets information there is something transmitting from it. Yet there was no indication of where it is transmitting. ]

Nadia: “Look.”
Sydney: “I see it.”

[ Just then Dixon sees on his laptop hookup to agency satellite a ship coming.
He indicates to the girls where to look. I t is a cruise ship. The building built into the mountain has a gold beam coming from it. It is a laser. It does not hit the ship but hits what appears to be an abandoned wreck the islander’s wouldn’t see unless from a certain vantage point. Some of the Others have seen it, Locke and company have not. The wreck is vaporized. The cruise ship’s radar must have picked up on it and heads away from the island. ]

Dixon: “Did you see it?”

[ After going back to their base they get some new gear and return, and now start looking into specially developed binoculars that see over an extraordinary distance. ]

Sydney: “Yes, we see it. So that is why these people were never rescued!”
Dixon: “It looks that way. I think the main question is when was this laser set up?
Before or after the building was built. Infrared show no human occupancy”
Sydney: “Is it military?”
Dixon: “I can’t think of anyone else.”
Sydney: “Maybe if we got inside, books, tapes or…”
Dixon: “The type of instruments, or anything with characters on it, maintenance
systems, could tell us what country they were made.”
Sydney: “That wouldn’t tell us who was behind it.”
Nadia: “Or why.”
Sydney: “She’s right.”
Dixon: “We could go inside but it would be a better idea to track the history of the
island, than to take chances”
Sydney: “Meet us at the near the beach.”

[ Meanwhile back with the islanders Hugo has heard about Claire and the bird ]

Hugo: “Well I suppose it wouldn’t hurt.”
Sun: “A group of scientists may track the bird’s flight but will they catch it.
Will this bird itself be caught amongst many that are tagged?”
Jin: “Scientists use nets in some locations [looks at his nets,] its possible,
I’ve seen them do it in documentaries.”
[ She relates what he said. ]
Hugo: “I guess anything is possible [ laughs ] like winning a lottery ticket.”

[ Dixon and the girls are reading laptops into the darkness in tents in an obscure
Location none of the islanders have ever been to. ]
Dixon: “Marshall found some information on the island that we didn’t see
last time.”

[ Nadia, who’s speech impediment due to the infection she had before, has taken to writing e-mail to the other two who are in their own tents. They are too small for only
one person, for easy transportation. Dixon is communicating with special cells
is a way off to give the girls some room. ]

Sydney: “Nadia I think speaks better through e-mail. She’s back to normal
Intellectually…just her speech. She thinks either Russia or the U.S.
when they used the island for military purposes, had contemplated
nuclear tests here. That is why they used wrecks to zap, to keep
everyone away.”
Nadia: [writes:] “It’s like a sci fi movie in space.”
Sydney: “It’s like the helicopter pilot, beside the pilot driving who had his
Eyes put out by the red laser.”
Nadia: [writes:] “Cruise ships carry thousands of people, that would draw the
Attention of anyone in contact with the ship.”
Dixon: “I think what happened to the plane may have happened to the ship.”
Sydney: “So what happened to the plane was.”
Nadia: [writes:] “Intended by an old computer program to hit a wreck and
instead hit whatever was within range.”
Sydney: “The nearest thing. But what about its height? It was up too high
when it fell.”
Dixon: “I am going to have the people back home go through as many reports,
ship logs in the area, any satellite feed from different sources pooled
together. Maybe we could find out when the plan meant down and at
what height.”
Nadia: [writes:] “Wouldn’t lasers generate heat…thermal imaging from satellites
should have picked up.”
Sydney: “[since recovery from her infection,] You’ve com a long way!”
Dixon: “Good thinking girls. Your worth a whole team of experts.”
Nadia: [writes:] “Maybe we could find a way to get these people off the island.
Without anyone finding out who helped them. Lost and
Found.”

Alias Revisits Lost Island

Sidney and her colleagues have been keeping an eye on the island since the left. After seeing the hatch blow up on agency satellite feed, decide to visit the island. Nadia has a permanent speech impediment after her being infected. Her speech is halting, pronouncing syllables separately. With Dixon in charge, Sidney and Nadia go back to the island.
Sawyer goes off to try to find Kate, and follows broken branches and crushed plants as his guide and finds the building where she Locke and Sayid are. Danielle has come back after hearing shots fired. Bakunin and Kate’s assailant have overcome them, having guns pointed at them. When Danielle and Sawyer break into the building. There is a beep from the computer. Kate and the person who attacked her and Bakunin with Sayid at gunpoint, a new standoff is created with the four: Sawyer and Bakunin and Danielle with Kate’s assailant, Kate has lost her gun.
Locke sits down at the computer.
Marvin: “Hostiles have entered the facility; all sensitive material must be purged.”
[Locke hits enter. The computer says “are you there yet? ‘Y/N’. He types words instead. “what is the next level?”.]
Marvin: “You need the Dharma Initiative Level Code to enter the next level.”
Bakunin: “Go ahead, I’d like to see how far you can get.”
Sawyer: “I hope you ain’t one of him, cause if you are I’m aiming for you
after I am at them.”
[Back at home:]
Hugo: “So, somebody has a plan to get off the island. Where have we heard that before.”
Jack: “Well, I noticed him watching Sawyer go over there but he looked over there more, as if there was something over there I couldn’t see anything.”
[In the meantime, new visitors have come ashore during the night and are camped in a remote area, having brought a rubber lifeboat, now released of air, collapsed and hidden, along with a pump; various equipment.]
[Back at the building the standoff ensues while Locke, now goes unnoticed and continues on the computer.]
Sawyer: “I got all day to keep my hand on this trigger, the first on of you that flinches.”
Bakunin: “You’re very smart, the Guard trained you well.”
[To Kate’s assailant:]
“When did they land?”
“Last night.”
Kate: “Why don’t you let us in on it, maybe…?”
Bakunin: “Please, we will speak in English in a few minutes.”
Sawyer: “Might as well sit a spell, anybody have a drink of water, sure am thirsty.”
“There were three, one man and two women, one named Sidney, the other
Nadia, the man seemed to be in charge.”
Bakunin: “What about the man?”
“Dix –on, I believe; know them?”
Bakunin: “Yes, she’s a good fighter, threw a dart at me in a pub, that’s why…[points to his eye.] “I thought it was on a mission?”
Bakunin: “It was, so, you’re not on the other side. I heard otherwise, only those near
know the real…”
Kate and Sawyer: “Stop the talk!” “Enough of this!”
Bakunin: “Your friend needs to have that extracted. That’s why he’s scratching his
arm. Don’t worry Mr. Locke, it’s just a small dart. I threw it during this
commotion. It’s only a drug relaxes muscles. You can still type. You
will just have heavy arms and legs. A certain amount of lethargy. It is
lethal amount.
Locke: [yawns] “Admit I’m sleepy, my arms.”
Bakunin: “It’s working already.”
Sayid: “Its not cyanide?”
Bakunin: "No, it wasn’t for me. I can withstand getting roughed up. I’ve let
myself get caught many times. Just like you. Someone with your
experience would not walk in unarmed like that.”
Sawyer: “Seems to me you know a lot about us. That’s why Charlie has been a
little paranoid lately.”
“Ask him about?”
Bakunin: “They have no idea, they never found it.”
Sawyer: “What gibberish are they talking about know?”
Kate: [To Sawyer, looking at the explosives on the walls] “Look.”
Sayid: “What are you doing, blowing up the last evidence of Dharma
Project?”
[On a hillside Sidney and Nadia look into binoculars]
Nadia: “The –re. See, the water. It –s [hesitates,] low ti –de!”
Sidney: “I see it. [calls Dixon]

Sun: “He says to ask you about Locke and Kate, I haven’t seen them.”
Hugo: “There probably just talking somewhere…Charlie saw Sawyer go off somewhere. They’ll be back
[Back at the building:]
[Lock struggles with lethargy but curiosity compels him to continue with the computer, he tries to talk]
Bakunin: “It’s hard to talk with that in your system. I know, there was a
young lady named Sidney, a dental assistant who stuck me with
needle – it had too much of the chemical in it and the dentist
couldn’t work on me. My mouth wouldn’t open. I wouldn’t
mind seeing her again.”
Kate: “What’s the matter, couldn’t they fit you with a glass eye?”
Bakunin: “I’ve been here a long time, I got this when I had an accident
Hiking. A branch got stuck in my eye.”
Sawyer: “Are we to believe a man in the woods all this time has an
accident like that?"
Bakunin: “Think what you need to, it’s the truth.”
Sayid: “How did you know I was a Rep…”
[Bakunin starts to raise his gun. Sayid flashes back to when he was being tortured.]
[ Sayid is injected with a hallucinogen. This is used to get him to talk under the influence. His torturer really wants him to open up about a former Iraqi Republican Guard who started a subversive group to oust the regime. They think Sayid was either part of the group or had been approached outside of Iraq and knew of the man and the group. He is
Asked questions, and a list of guards is rattled off. All they know is that he was in the same unit as the guard.
The drug, at first alters perception; as time goes on hallucinations are too intense and asking anymore questions is pointless. He remembers the hallucinations.
He sees people he has tortured. He cries and gets on his knees and prays to God for forgiveness. ‘There are some acts for which there is no forgiveness,’ he thinks he hears God. He wishes he could die.
He see clouds, white amidst blue turn red. He bends face to the floor. ‘My God, forgive?’
And other thins he did not want to remember. An eclipse, the moon blots out the sun, he remembers seeing oil wells on fire in the desert. The air is cold and tries to warm himself. Finally he feels a jab in his arm. It is a needle before he blanks out he hears the word forgiven. ]
[ Sidney, Dixon and Nadia stark looking at tapes of the islands inhabitants before the explosion. They see Bakunin and know that he been an agent for a number of countries. Acting as free-lance, sometimes double or triple agent for Russia. ]
Dixon: “I wonder what he is doing here, what is he up to.”
Sidney: “I don’t understand, what does he want with these people, what
are they to them.”
Nadia: “Sure –ly he can’t be s tuck.”
Dixon: “No, I think it must be the Dharma Initiative.”
[ back with the islanders ]
Hugo: “Look, I don’t think we need to worry about Kate, Locke,
Sayid, Sawyer…they have experience.”
Claire: “There are Other out there, so, wait till morning the men can go
and look for them.”
Hugo: “Back home I never had to look for anyone, the were just an
e- mail away!”
[ at the building ]
Locke: “Final –ly, my jaw oh –its like the Tin Man.”
Bakunin: “I’ve seen that, old American movie but I’m interested in
how far you can go.”
Sayid: “It’s a set up…something happens but not here. Otherwise
We would have moved a while ago. You hold all the cards.”
[ J. Candle comes on suddenly repeating what he just said Lock presses Ctr Alt Del for a soft boot when the screen goes blank then he comes on ]
Candle: “The Dharma Initiative Defense Plan.
If the secondary facilities have been compromised, to the temporary shelter. By now you have moved back
from the destroyed secondaries. This shelter will be eliminated in twenty-four The The Dharma Initiative Data Files in the Binders contain the same data as the tapes in the secondary facilities. Presuming the secondary facility has been compromised. The Primary Facility is where you will go for the rest of the time. Remember, twenty-four hours! Your instructor has by now come to you and will take to the new facility. GO NOW! Follow the protocols set for you on the computer. The hostiles If they attack will not be able to find you. Since the Primary Facility is beneath the level of the Secondary Facility. It also extends over a greater Distance. One more thing. Never use explosive or the torches to burn through the floor wall or ceiling of the facility. Abide by this simple rule and you could live inside --no matter what happens: man made or natural catastrophe.
[ At this even Bakunin is disturbed ]
Bakunin: “So what did they plan?”
Sayid: “Even you don’t know?”
Someone: "Are you sure or are you holding something from us?"
Bakunin: "Believe me, on this island there is always something left to discover."

[ He shakes his head ]
