I was in the mood to write some Vack, seeing as the story has been lacking in it for a while, so I also wanted to hint at S/v doing you-know-what, and that's when I realized that I could use that to get a good Vack scene.

Chapter 33

Sydney was furiously brushing her hair while Vaughn tucked in his shirt after they had finished their business over at the Super 9. Sydney grabbed both key cards and returned them to the front desk. Meeting Vaughn at the car, they headed over to Jack’s apartment.

Jack opened the door and looked at the pair. A coy smile spread over his face, and he stepped out of the way allowing Sydney to walk in and get J. D. Once she was out of sight, Jack’s smile vanished. “I know you and my daughter are intimate, but seriously, Agent Vaughn, can’t you restrain yourself a little bit?”

“What are you talking about?”

Jack reached out to Vaughn’s pocket. Pulling out the small exposed area of black lace, Jack was soon holding up a pair of panties. “Though I really don’t need to know this, if these aren’t my daughter’s, then you are dead. Are they?”

Vaughn stood there like a deer in the headlights. Knowing he was screwed either way he answered, Vaughn started to smile when a thought crossed his mind. “Actually, Mr. Bristow, they’re mine.”

Ever since Vaughn had got Jack’s blessing to marry Sydney, he had started to notice a lighter side to Jack. “I was young once, Agent Vaughn. I know how sometimes…urges…can take hold. All I want to know is that you respect my daughter.”

“I love your daughter, Jack. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. We’re engaged. We’d be married by now if it hadn’t been for Allison.”

Jack nodded as he heard footprints approaching. When Sydney came into view, she looked inquisitively at Jack. She started to blush.

“What is it?” Jack asked.

“Can I have those back?”

Jack looked down at the pair of panties in his hands. When Vaughn realized what was happening, he had to bite his lip hard until he was nearly crying in order to keep from laughing.

Jack handed them to Sydney. An unnatural silence hung in the air until Jack spoke up again. “J. D. was a good boy while you were away.”

“Were there any….problems?”

“Such as what?”

“Someone trying to kidnap him?”

“Yeah, actually there was,” Jack said, face unflinching.

“WHAT?”

“Sydney,” Jack said looking her in the eyes.

“What?”

“I’m kidding.”

“You’re kidding?”

“Yeah, there were no problems other than soiled diapers.”

“Thanks for doing this, Dad,” Vaughn said, looking as apprehensive as he felt.

“My name is Jack, Agent Vaughn. Don’t call me Dad. At least not until your union is official.”

Hannah hung up her phone. She had a plane ticket for three days later. Putting the card back in Rebecca’s purse, she knew she just had to wait.

I have to get away, Hannah thought. If I can just make it three more days.

Three Days Later…

Hannah looked both ways. Thinking about the life she was leaving behind, she had just one thought: Good riddance.

Handing her ticket to the attendant, she walked onto the plane.

~ ~ ~

Marshall stared at Carrie over the candle-lit dinner. “Carrie, I love you.” She looked back at him.

“Marshall, I love you, too.”

Vaughn was feeding J. D. later that night when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it,” Sydney called out. He heard footsteps approaching the door. “I don’t recognize who it is. It’s a young woman.”

Vaughn stood up and headed towards the door. Looking through the peephole, he shook his head. Quickly going and getting his gun, he loaded a bullet in the chamber and took up a ready stance as Sydney opened the door.

~ ~ ~

After standing in front of the door for a few moments, Hannah saw the door swing open, and she was looking into the barrel of a gun.

“Hi,” she said softly.

Chapter 34

“Who are you?” Vaughn said sternly. After a short pause, they got their response.

“Hannah,” she choked out, noticing the tiny circular grooves etched in the inside of the barrel.

“Hannah what?” Sydney asked, continuing the interrogation.

Taking a deep breath, Hannah made one short statement; “Put that gun down and you’ll get your answer.”

“We’re not putting the gun down until you tell us who you are.”

“Can I get into my bag?”

“No,” Sydney responded. “Wait just a little bit.” Running up the stairs, Sydney searched through their hidden stash of weapons and other miscellaneous objects, until she found a bomb-sniffer that Marshall had given them. Taking it back down, she scanned the bag, and when no explosives were detected, she unzipped it, pulling out the files.

As she flipped through them, she looked at Vaughn. “Lower your gun.” He complied. “Come on in,” she said to Hannah.

Hannah walked into the house and sat down on the couch that Sydney indicated. “I hate to impose, but when I saw what those files said, I knew I couldn’t stay home.”

“Wait,” Vaughn interrupted, “what’s on the files.” Sydney closed up the one file she was reading and passed it over. “This is a file on my dad; so what?”

Still silent, Sydney passed over the next file. Hannah spoke as Vaughn opened the cover. “That is the file on my dad.”

Vaughn’s face spoke volumes. “You can help us find him,” he stated.

“Yeah, but…” Hannah trailed off.

“What?”

“Well, according to this file, I am his daughter…”

“And I’m his son,” Vaughn finished. “You’re my sister.”

“Half, but, yeah. You’re my brother.”

Vaughn nodded slowly. “Wow.”

“I was kind of hoping that I could stay with you.”

“Yeah, that’s fine,” Sydney responded. “Vaughn?”

“What? Oh, yeah, that’s fine.”

“It’s a shock, I understand. I found out three days ago. I felt like you look now.”

“Well, it’s nice to meet you…what did you say your name was again?”

“Hannah. Hannah Williams.”

“Michael Vaughn. Nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you, too.”

“I’m Sydney Bristow,” Sydney interjected.

“Nice to meet you.” As they shook hands, J. D. started to cry. With an apologetic sigh, Sydney left to take care of her son, leaving Vaughn and J. D. in the living room alone.

“So, uh, how are you?”

“I’m fine. Listen, I need to ask you something.”

“What?”

“I saw that Dad—I mean Bill or William or whatever—is on the CIA’s Most Wanted List.”

“Yeah, he’s number forty-seven.”

“I want to help bring him in.”

“It could be dangerous.”

“I know. I want to do it.”

“You may get sent into the Witness Protection Program if you do.”

“Couldn’t I just stay with you?”

“It would require some legal action. Perhaps I might have to adopt you, but it could probably work.”

Sydney walked into the room cradling J. D. “So, that baby would be my…”

“Half cousin,” Vaughn answered. Hannah looked at J. D. and smiled. “Hey there,” she said to the baby. “What’s his name?”

“Umm, it’s Jonathan Donohue William Bristow-Vaughn.”

“Wait, so you two aren’t…”

“Not yet. We are engaged, though.”

“When’s the wedding?”

“October 1.”

“Cool.”

“Hannah?” Vaughn started.

“Yes?”

“I hate to revert back to business, but you said you wanted to help us take down Bill. If we’re going to have a fighting chance at this, we have to move fast.”

~ ~ ~

The next day…

“That’s all, wheels up in two hours,” Kendall said closing the meeting. “Agent Vaughn, I’d like to talk to you for a bit.”

“Yes, sir.”

When the rest of the people had filed out of the room, Kendall immediately started talking. “Agent Vaughn, since we are searching for your father, that powers that be have agreed that this situation is a conflict of interests for you, and I am informing you right now that you are not going to be privy to the facts of this search. Is that understood?”

“Yes.”

“Good. Due to the fact that Ms. Williams is helping in supplying the information about this operation, her residence with you also provides a conflict of interests. She’ll be reassigned to another family until the objective is reached here. We expect your full cooperation.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Good. That’s it.”

When the plane finally landed, the tactical team filed out of the plane. Agent Paul Jerkins led the pack of squad cars to the location Hannah had supplied.

“Base ops, this is Python. We’re at the location,” Paul said pulling up to a stop after the short drive. “We are entering the house.”

Paul kicked the door in, and ran into the room, gun drawn. Quickly, he scanned the room for any evidence of life. Paul motioned forward with his hand, and the rest of the team filed into the house. As they fanned out, Paul headed down to the basement. A small blinking red light caught his attention. Shining his light on it, Paul realized with a start what it was.

“All agents fall back! The house is wired to…” Paul yelled into his communicator. His plea was cut off by a fireball ripping the house apart.

At the control station, Hannah looked at the screen in confusion. “What just happened?” she asked.

“Your dad just blew up the house.”

“Why?”

“To keep us from getting any evidence of where he went.” Kendall shook his head and cursed. “It never gets any easier,” she heard him say quietly.

Hannah waited for the people that had been assigned to watch her to show up. When they did, she got into the car and let them take her to her new home.

October 1…

Sydney awoke with a smile. Looking down at the engagement ring on her finger, she smiled. Before the end of the day, it’d have company.

Chapter 35

Vaughn stood in front of the mirror trying his hardest to tie the bow tie correctly. Sydney walked in barely dressed, and, seeing him struggling, walked up to him and tied it for him. When she had finished she looked into his deep green eyes and smiled. “You’re so great. I love you.”

“I love you too.” He looked down for a little bit. “We need to talk about something.”

“What is it?”

“My mom’s here.”

“Yeah, so?”

“So,” Vaughn sighed, “due to the fact that the identity of Dad’s supposed killer was kept confidential, she doesn’t know that you’re the daughter of Irina. She doesn’t even know who Irina is. I’d like you to talk to your mother to make sure that Mom doesn’t find out. We don’t need that on our wedding day.”

“I understand.”

“Another thing I need to mention,” Vaughn continued, “is that your mother is going to be under surveillance while she’s here. I don’t want to remember my wedding day as having several armed men watching your mother. Do you think it’d be possible to reduce the number of agents that she has on her?”

“I doubt it.”

“That’s what I figured.”

“Listen, Vaughn, I’d love to stay here and talk, but I need to get ready.”

“Go. It’s fine.”

Sydney walked out the door and Vaughn took a deep breath. He’d need to tell her the truth some time, but the last thing he wanted to do was upset Sydney on their wedding day. He looked down at the marriage license. He had offered to take care of that aspect of the planning just so that Sydney wouldn’t find out in such an impersonal way.

~ ~ ~

Sydney was putting on her make-up when Irina and her four-guard entourage came in to the room.

“So, where’s my dress?” Irina asked. Sydney went over to the closet and grabbed it. After the guards had scanned it, making sure there were no hidden weapons on it, they watched as Irina readied herself for the wedding.

“Mom?” Sydney said quietly.

“Yes?”

“Vaughn wanted me to tell you something.” Sydney proceeded to explain to Irina the necessity for keeping her past actions a secret.

~ ~ ~

As Sydney waited inside, Jack came up next to her, all dressed up in a tuxedo. “I’m so proud of you, Sydney.”

“Thanks, Dad.”

The bridal march started, and everyone stood and turned towards the door. Jack opened it for Sydney and slowly escorted her out. As she walked down the row between the fold out chairs that had been arranged, she saw Vaughn standing at the end, the most noticeable aspect of his attire was the large smile across his face. Looking to the side, she say Irina holding a sleeping J. D. in her arms. The walk continued, and Sydney passed four empty chairs, one that she knew belonged to Jack. It wasn’t until she had nearly passed them that she saw three pictures in the remaining three chairs: one of Francie, one of Will, and one of Amy. Even though the memory of her lost friends brought a moment of sadness to her mind, she pushed it aside as she finally stood next to Vaughn. “You’ve never looked better,” he said quietly as the preacher gestured for the friends and family to sit.

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God – and in the face of this company – to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony, which is commended to be honorable among all men; and therefore – is not by any – to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly – but reverently, discreetly, advisedly and solemnly. Into this holy estate these two persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together – let them speak now or forever hold their peace.”

Not expecting any opposition when the preacher said this, the small reply of “I have something to say,” completely shocked the entire crowd, none more so than Vaughn. As the group turned as one to look at the offending speaker, Vaughn uttered one word: “Dad?”

THE END

For now at least.

Here's a spoiler from Love and War, the sequel to this story.

“I saw your mom kill my dad. [....] I wanted to find the person who had killed Dad, so I joined forces with a known terrorist to help find his killer. [....] When you came in with your desire to help bring down SD-6, they came to me, asking me to be your handler.”

“Why you?”

“Because,” Vaughn sighed, “The man I was working with was Arvin Sloane.”
