"Augmented Reality"

An interesting CGI overlay video here of a possible future. Some interesting stuff with household computer showing items in the house/fridge/cupboards and then an optical system illuminating them for the user. The ability for the optical system to take you momentarily away from the Real World to browse the net seems cool, but you'd better be sat down whilst doing it.

Additionally, as with goggle wearing 3DTV, how exactly are you suppose to interact with the other members of your household? How are kids to grow up disciplined and socialised?

The advertising is utterly over the top and would leave you prone to accidents or just headaches/migraines but I'm sure AdblockPlus or one of their compatriots in the field would bring out something to deal with it. Richard Morgans: Takeshi Kovacs universe had the advertising with the adblocking functions that relate to this.

The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualise the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it.

A film produced for my final year Masters in Architecture, part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.
