Taking the lead

Doomsday Gun(1994)----seen it several times before over the past couple of years. The film focuses on Canadian weapons designer Dr. Gerald Bull and his efforts to build the ultimate long-barrel "super-gun"; the bulk of the film follows Iraq's efforts(w/Bull in the lead) to build a super-gun with which Iraq can threaten neighboring countries(including Israel). There's an interesting subplot involving Bull(played by Frank Langella), CIA operative Jim Price(played by Kevin Spacey) & Israeli Mossad official Colonel Yossi(played by Alan Arkin) that dovetails with the main plot of the film, ending with Bull's assassination at the hands of Mossad agents in the Netherlands several months prior to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990.

What, Does Cage have a thing for Bat out of Hell movies?
There were some sweet rides in this flick but nothing special. The story was just the same rehash of good vs bad and had the end result I was expecting.
Everytime the Accountant appeared I immediately thought Chris Walken. Not that William Fitchtner was inadequet, just that he had the same demeanor as Walken.
Amber Heard was not a damsel in distress but I wouldn't want to date her!
Its not about saving the baby, Its about Nic Cage doing a back from Hell thing. I felt absolutely nothing for anyone in this film. I rate it 6/10 on the already done better ****-o-meter. Its not a total waste of time but the story has been done much better in other films. Be prepared for knowing what is coming and saying "I told you so"

This is one of my favorite scifi movies. There isn't anything special about the graphics, the acting or the cast. What make this special is the concept of a machine that can create anything out of raw materials. It seem a bit funny that it took an ancient race of beings the whole planet to make a machine that we might have do the same things at a nano scale. If we ever have a nanoassembler break-thru the fantastic planet scenario will be science fact. I give this film a 9/10 on the Holy **** They Might Be Right scale!
