What is a Beta Reader you ask? A Beta Reader is someone that volunteers to help other writers with editing their story so it can be the best story possible. You are going to be an extra pair of eyes for the author.
You will be an honest and fair source for the author, so be honest with what you think and show any errors you see in the work. For example:-
THE BENEFITS:
- A beta will help you through it all: grammar, plot, plot holes, etc.
- The little things you missed will be discovered before you unintentionally make a fool out of yourself!
- Your writing will be more professional/better in general.
- You have a source of honest encouragement (if readers aren't enough
).
THE FACT IS...
Most everyone needs a beta. Nobody is perfect, and having one can only improve your writing! Also, if you want to learn more about the tricks of the trade and think you could be helpful, you might want to try being one yourself!
Honestly, I would advise everyone to take advantage of this thread. To clear things up, having a beta does not mean your story is in deep trouble: it means you are an intelligent writer who knows what's best for your work. (Besides, all professional writers have editors.) Even if you think your story is amazing, a beta is always useful. Sometimes, we become biased

Beta Preference: (do you only want to beta NON-Fiction? R-Rated work?)
File Type: Word Document, Notepad, WordPad, Google Docs, Mobi, PDF (In other words, what kind of file can you open to read)
Anything else we need to know:
