Movies Box Office talk weekend 42 - Downunder

Jethro

Captain
So the weekend saw Geostorm dislodged Blade Runner from top spot with a $1.54 million result, definitely above my call of $1.2. The storm front may not last that long, another in the never ending superhero flicks dropping next weekend, but is well on the way to a passing mark. Meanwhile holdover Happy Death Day slipped 44% over weekend 2 earning $798K in the process which pushed total gross to $2.6 million. Genre heavy hitter It is definitely in the suck on weekend seven. The movie dragged in $122K as its run starts to wind down, total earn is now at a staggering $23.5 million! And to round out The Limehouse Golem proved to be indifferent with a $11K earn, a tad under my call of $120K, which had more to do with lack of advertising and screen numbers than anything else. Still a train wreck for distributor Trans.

Nothing coming up this weekend, Thor is set to hammer the box office, but the new Saw movie is on the horizon, just in time for post Halloween.

I just got a clean copy of Happy Death Day.
I have a TS copy of Geostorm but from the reviews I've read it doesn't look well-received.
I'm still waiting on clean copies of:

Geostorm
Valerian
IT
Flatliners
Blade Runner
Logan Lucky
American Assassin
Kingsman: The Golden Circle

While I grab the cam/TS copies I don't watch them till a clean copy is out.
Kinda like placeholders.

On my To Watch list (that I already have):

The Slayer
Talon Falls
Otherlife
Nightworld
The Grinn
MFA
American Gothic: Bloodletting
A Demon Within
Did You See That
Wheelman
Bad Day For The Cut

The Babysitter amused the hell out of me I have to admit.

For those wondering, Downunder box office rules of engagement are

10 million+ - breakout hit

20 million+ - blockbuster

Current wisdom on tracking against North American box office, taking into account ticket prices, number of screens, exchange rates, and population is simply multiply everything by 10.

So It is currently tracking Downunder at $235 million in comparison to North America's $321 million. Very few horror movies track better Downunder than North America.
