computer tower

CIA Director
I have a 4 year old compaq computer and I noitced that my computer is having some minor problems.

First, I will hear the sound of a 'click' from the computer tower, and then it will shut down everything (which I get very angry) and then the computer tower will reboot itself.

I've checked the cooling fan, and the heat fan from the tower, and they both work.

Could the ram going bad? I've scanned my computer to see if I had any computer virus, and the programs hasn't found one. Help!

If you know how to burn a disc from an ISO, do so with this one: memtest86

Boot, let it run at least 3 complete passes (large sequences of different tests - this can take an hour or more, just to give you an idea) and see if errors occur.

Be aware: issues of this nature can often be the fault not of the processor, not of the memory, not even of the motherboard, but of an old worn out power supply getting ready to kick the bucket (and often in a dramatic fashion with sparks, smoke, flames - and I'm only kidding a tiny bit, it's happened).
