Cool Sci-Fi will be undergoing major renovations in the upcoming months!
We started the site many years as way of helping to connect sci-fi fans who shared mutual interests & tastes. That "1.0" version of the site was mostly manual HTML pages and was a labor of love. Back around 2004 we launched the "2.0" version of the site that was forum based and shortly after came our pretty cool 'ray gun' design that you see now. It is time for another remodeling.
The planned 3.0 version of the site will be a total renovation with both new software and a new design! The new site will have a much lighter feel to it and will be based around user interactions. That means a 'back to basics' mentality where features won't be added unless they need to.
In the days ahead we will be going through some parts of the existing site and turning off the parts that are most infrequently used. For example, the "Links" directory will not be moving to the new site. The discussion forums will be the most central part of the new side as they very well should be.
The renovations will likely take several weeks before we are ready to make the switch but we are doing everything we can to make the migration as painless as possible.
