Just a thought I had today and thought I'd ask you guys/gals..

Do you find it difficult to find a date with someone that has the same or similar interests?

I'm on a dating site and have been for a year now and I've had noone interesting to me come along. Its all men with general interests and no syfy/fantasy geeky/nerdy fans. I find this depressing to a certain extent. Have all the geeks out there been taken already or am I looking in the wrong places?? :(

My wife & I have totally entertainment different tastes and in the end I think it works for us because then we aren't constantly joined-at-the-hip (as the expression goes) 24-hours a day. In the house I am the geek that likes sci-fi/fantasy/horror & shiny things while she prefers "reality" TV and the Lifetime channel. This carries over into what we each read as well. I specified entertainment tastes because when it comes to the rest of life we generally are on the same page when it comes to family, friends, politics, what's right & wrong, and even finances & the such. It helps that both of us are also a bit socially awkward in that neither of us likes crowds and have a small core group of friends.

So where I'm going with that is that, no, it wasn't difficult for us to get together because aside from what we consume to entertain ourselves with we had a lot in common. And when it does come to the differences we have in tastes we've accepted that we each like our own thing and, though we may make a few jokes on the others choice of stuff to watch/read, will go along with something one of us may not like for the benefit of the other (eg: her putting up with my looking at shiny things with my hand on my wallet, me putting up with going to movies like "Seven Years in Tibet" solely because Brad Pitt was in it).

When you say that no one interesting has come along, is it purely because of the lack of geekiness on their behalf or something else? Perhaps some of the guys do have a bit of geek in them but don't really want to admit it right away.

I dunno to be honest @Kevin I think i'm just attracting the wrong men, well wrong for me. I don't like a man that gambles a lot, drinks a lot, consumes mass amounts of football and is a player or only interested in one nights. And that's all i'm getting. I don't expect the same amount of geekiness that I have but some geekiness would be nice. I don't know if that makes any sense at all? Perhaps I'm just getting fussy with age lol.

I know the feeling. I know very few girls with similar interests to mine. Only a couple then its only the odd thing. I think its a wait and see thing. If its to be believed one day someone will show up miraculously out of nowhere. Not really something that cuts it for me. I feel I am just picky though. Perhaps The anti social side of things add in.

HHhhhmmmm..... a thread where a girl is looking for a guy and a guy is looking for a girl.

Nix, meet Zelanar. Zelanar, meet Nix. Oh, hey, look at the time, I have an errand I forgot about. You two should stay and talk for a bit while I'm gone.

LOL Bless too funny..... I think you might find I am a little toooooo old for Zelanar...

Sigh, all the good guys are taken or gay!

I joined a geeky dating site but alas once joined I realised it was a poo site which is a shame as you'd think a geeky site would be well put together...oh well I think I'll be 90 by the time I find a good man and manage to keep him, then I'll probably have a cardiac before I get to the vicar lol!!!!
