Desert and monk - Sci-Fi & Adventure

I don't remember title. It's a movie about bald (or short hair) monk [dark carnation, similar to Egyptian]. He's young, probably 25-30 years old. The monk escapes through the desert. He has woman, who he loves (reciprocated love). I remember that he kissed girl. She asks: "Are you afraid of sin?". Then somebody runs for them. I remember strange moment: the monk burns bad guy (dressed as a Bedouin) in desert uses own eyes. The bad guy disappears. Science-fiction from USA. 80's or 90's. I think that movie is from Universal Pictures.
