To start, I'm very happy that they didn't try to make this into a sequel or prequel or anything. The only thing it has to do with the first one is that it has the same plot points of a young, upper class girl who gets her eyes opened to the outside world and the things going on in it. Which is why I respect it and really want to see it.

My friend Bethany said something really funny when we saw the trailer for it during "Under the Tuscan Sun"... she was like, "Emily, it's like the mother ship calling us home." ;)

No It's sacrilige to make a sequel to such a classic. does anyone remember grease 2? Some movies should not had sequels or prequels since it takes place before the original. I'll probably see it eventually but not willingly.

I saw it last night. And let me tell you I enjoyed it highly. It doesn't have the phenomena power of the first, but it was still a highly enjoyable movie. It was more about the dancing and the situation in Cuba in 1959 rather than the love story (though there was a love story). I enjoyed it highly and didn't think it took away from the first one in any way.

I saw it Friday night..it was soo good! It's one of those movies that I'd see again in theaters...after the movie me and my friends drove to Walmart (and this was at like 10:30) and bought the soundtrack...there are creepy people at Walmart at night...I'm listening to it now and it's so good!!
I have a new obesssion: Diego Luna...sighhh

I'm glad to see its getting decent reviews from you guys.

I was afraid that the sequel might have destroyed the original.
(ie: its hard to watch Pocahontas now that I've seen the sequel. Just ruins it)

But Grease 2 has Maxwell Caulfield... star of Casualty and forever Rex Manning, for nothing can go wrong on Rex Manning day.
