Dollhouse

hey can be anyone you want.

The Dollhouse is a very secret, and very illegal, place where wishes come true. Clients with the right connections and enough money can hire "Actives", people who have been programmed to perfectly fulfill the needs, and desires of their clients. The Actives are people who have chosen, for their own reasons, to surrender their bodies and minds for a five-year stay in the Dollhouse. Now they can be imprinted with any personality, skill, or even muscle memory. They can be the perfect companion, lover, spy, assassin; and when the job is done they forget everything.

But something is wrong with the Active called "Echo". No longer just a blank slate waiting for her next assignment, Echo is remembering flashes of the lives that she has lived and the games she has played, and she is starting to wonder just who she really is...

Dollhouse is a production of 20th Century Fox Television, Joss Whedon's "Mutant Enemy", and Eliza Dushku's "Boston Diva Productions"

Has Dollhouse just started in the UK, Lee?

It finished in America on May 8, 2009 with Season 1, Episode 12: Omega

Surprisingly, FOX TV is going to show the unseen pilot episode on July 28, 2009 and call it Season 1, Episode 13.

This says the UK is getting a combination Dollhouse & Battlestar Galactica convention.

Yes, I think we've just seen episode 5..... where Echo meets the FBI agent and beats the felgercarb out of him in the alleyway.... starting to get verrrrryyyyy interesting.

I'm a big Joss Whedon fan, so I was bound to love this series anyway.. I love the way he can totally screw with your heads in ways you just didn't expect!

I hope the unseen pilot gets shown over here too then! I'll give the conventions a miss though.. I not quite that much of an anorak LOL (no offence to anyone who goes!!!)

Oh, I thought the show was about dolls that come alive. Hmm, weird to think that now.

They are "Dolls" as they are figures that you can play with whichever way you want them to. *Hint, hint. Nudge, nudge. Say no more, say no more*

The show hinted at clients being able to hiring a Doll to recreate a great experience with a loved one who may have passed away, or left them. They didn't say the dolls could be used for sex, but they didn't say that it was out of bounds either. 👅

The show seemed to concentrate on programming abilities into the dolls for special ops in later episodes.

So basically witchcraft, right? Hmm, I know just the person who loves that type of show. :D

No, more like Hi-tech brainwashing.

The "Dolls" are the term used to describe the people who've volunteered to have hi-tech mind reprogramming as people-for-hire. When their mission is over, the programmed personality is withdrawn and the person become child-like in mentality. The company is sinester in their motivation; the Dolls reprogramming and deprogramming is a painful process that the Dolls can't remember. They are dolls since they are being manipulated.

DOLLHOUSE season 2 will hit UK screens this October, exclusively on the SCI FI channel.

The series will kick off on Tuesday 20 October at 10pm, with adouble-bill of the first two episodes. It will then continue weekly in the sametime slot.

Exclusive: Ray Wise moves into 'Dollhouse'
by Michael Ausiello
Sep 15 2009 02:05 PM ET

It’s not James Marsters but this will do nicely…

Dollhouse has tapped spooky-cool Ray Wise to join the cast in the potentially recurring role of Howard, an intelligent higher-up in the Dollhouse who has huge presence and humor.

Wise is coming off of a two-year stint as Lucifer on The CW’s Reaper. Of course, to me, he’ll forever be the dude who offed Laura Palmer.

Dollhouse, which kicks off Season 2 one week from Friday, is amassing quite the impressive talent roster this season. In addition to Wise, upcoming guest stars include Jamie Bamber, Keith Carradine, Alexis Denisoff, and Summer Glau.

Summer Glau staying on Dollhouse, Alexis update
Posted by gossi on Sep 28th, 2009

Somebody from the Dollhouse-world just let me Summer is staying on Dollhouse as a reoccuring. As we originally announced a month or so ago to the interwebs, she was signed to just two episodes then.

Summer is currently in episodes 5 and 6 (production order).

Alexis Denisof has filmed episodes 1, 3, 5 and 6 so far (production order), FOX tells Dollverse.

Minor update: episode 7 started filming today, Summer isn’t in it this one. But she’s back later in the season, never fear.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vows_(Dollhouse)

"Vows" is the premiere of the second season of the American science fiction television series Dollhouse and the show's 14th episode overall. The episode was written and directed by series creator and executive producer Joss Whedon, and aired in the United States on FOX on September 25, 2009.[1] Vows follows the first season finale, Omega, and takes places several months after the events of that episode. Therefore, it is set in the present as opposed to the unaired thirteenth episode, Epitaph One.

In the episode, Echo is sent on an engagement as a young woman who marries an elusive international arms dealer and Ballard is offered a position as Echo's new handler. Dr. Saunders struggles with the revelation that she is a Doll and gets some surprising revelations from Topher. A U.S. Senator starts an investigation into the Rossum Corporation. The episode was met with mostly positive reviews.

Plot

The episode starts with Echo getting an imprint. Paul Ballard is seemingly concerned at whether Echo can handle this, but Topher reassures Ballard everything will be fine. During the imprinting process, Topher experiences glitches with his computer and suspects it is Dr. Saunders who is messing with him and goes to sleep. Adelle and Boyd discuss the dangers of keeping Ballard on staff, but Adelle seems unphased. Echo is then seen on an engagement and is getting married.

Topher wakes up and finds that there are rats in the cupboard placed in there by Dr. Saunders. Topher calls Dr. Saunders, who accuses Topher of faulty imprinting and Topher quickly rebuffs this saying that his work is perfection and her "mental health" is her fault. Boyd then walks into the room to speak with Dr. Saunders, handing in a report about Victor and his plastic surgery to mend his scars. Dr. Saunders does speak up about how Victor was given the surgery and not her, but says she is fine with it. Boyd asks her out to dinner but Dr. Saunders declines, saying she is scared of open spaces and it is just how she was made. Boyd rebuffs this saying it is an excuse and ultimately we are all a series of excuses.

Echo returns to Paul after spending the night with her "husband". It turns out Ballard is using Echo as an undercover agent to finally put the people away that he missed during his time at the FBI. Echo is then brought in for a check-up and whilst under examination by Dr. Saunders, she recalls an engagement they had together. Echo calls Dr. Saunders Whiskey and they re-account the details that sent Echo to the number one doll. In Adelle's office, Senator Perin is investigating the Rossum Corporation for with holding medical advancements. Boyd immediately suspects Ballard, but Ballard disregards the accusations. Adelle then offers Ballard the position of Echo's handler given how much he cares for her, despite how unhealthy it seems. Meanwhile it seems Echo has been found out. There have been photos taken of her and Paul Ballard drawing suspicious towards her.

Dr. Saunders tries to seduce Topher while he is trying to sleep. Dr. Saunders hypothesizes that she was programmed to hate Topher so they would fall in love, in a sense something that is more real than a "love slave". Topher declines Dr. Saunders sexual advancements and in a heated exchange, Topher reveals that he had not programmed her to hate him. He only programmed her to disagree with him so that they would not miss "something" that could potentially hurt the dolls. The decision to hate was made only by Dr. Saunders. Dr. Saunders subsequently breaks down under this information and Topher is trying to comfort her. It is revealed Dr. Saunders chose not to find out who she was in "Omega" because she doesn't want to give the body back to the original personality, thereby "dying" as Whiskey/Saunders.

Echo's husband confronts Echo with the picture of her and Paul Ballard. She is struck in the head and this seemingly triggers her past imprints. As she is about to talk herself out of her situation she states that she is Eleanor Penn (from "Ghost"). She is subsequently confused about her state of mind. Echo's husband then goes to make his arms deal bringing Echo with her. Ballard follows her and calls Topher who notices spikes in her feed and is alarmed that her handler did not call it. Ballard goes in by himself and then accusses Echo of failing the engagement and strikes her several times, trying to make her recall the "fighter" imprint "Man on the Street". They are able to disable all the guards and stop the arms deal. Dr. Saunder leaves the Dollhouse, leaving only a note for Boyd saying "I'm running out of excuses". Victor's scars have fully healed and he and Sierra and seen holding hands walking together. Echo reveals to Ballard that she can recall her imprints, even hear them, but she knows none of them are her real self and she asks for help from Ballard. He then takes up the offer from Adelle and becomes her new handler.

Fox's 'Dollhouse' has been canceled

Joss Whedon's sci-fi thriller is done and will conclude in January

NEW YORK (AP) -- "Dollhouse" will soon be going out of business.

The Joss Whedon fantasy drama ends after its current 13-episode order, with the series finale scheduled to air Jan. 22, according to a person familiar with the show who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss it.

Off the Fox schedule during November, it returns Dec. 4.

"Dollhouse" is about a high-tech prostitution service, with Eliza Dushku starring as an escort who can be implanted with different personalities to accommodate each client.

Created by Whedon, best known for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," the series arrived last February with great fanfare, but struggled to find an audience. Its cancellation was first reported Wednesday by the Hollywood Reporter.

Hi-Tech Prostitution service? The writer doesn't know what he's talking about.

Dollhouse - second from last episode.

A very good episode. It was suitable as a finale on its own.

So Dollhouse's "Marcus Dixon" turned out to be their "Arvin Sloane".
I liked the show because of Elisa Dushku and the writing of Joss Whedon. Too bad that FOX-TV didn't have confidence in it. I wonder why NBC hasn't considered putting it into their wide open 10 PM schedule?

This show made by Joss Whedon and starred Elizu Dushku (better known as Faith from Buffy). And Amy Acker also made a guest star in it.

This show wasn't that bad to begin with. The show is about people that have "allegedly" gone missing and that they have their minds erased to this seedy organisation which then "lends" them out (with financial gain of course) and the people who have their minds erased are refereed to as "dolls". And are imprinted with other deceased people minds and abilities, they then take on missions depending on the client as to what they want them to do.

Echo (Dushku) is beginning to "awake" from the mind erasing procedure and becoming more self-aware of herself.

Series 1 was a really good intro in to the show. How ever Fox (the shows network) put some really heavy pressure on it to do better.

Series 2 was seen as a flop (by Fox network bosses) and Fox have now canceled it.

If you have or are seeing this show what are your opinions of the show and its demise?.

I cannot remember when I stopped watching it. I know it was at the beginning of the second season. I remember thinking it was just not interesting anymore and I had better things to do.

I suppose this agrees with that statement but I cannot adequately explain it any better unless I sit down to a marathon viewing and analyse where I stopped watching it. And like I've pointed out before, I dodn't want to reach that point and feel once more, I have better things to do with my life  deja vu!
