The first three Target novels of the Doctor Who series, An Unearthly Child, The Daleks and The Edge of Destruction. This package includes two alternate introductions to the Doctor Who saga. Detailed synopsis below.
==============================
An Unearthly Child describes the televised pilot, of how two high school teachers following one of their pupils home meet the mysterious Doctor and are swept away on an adventure into the stone-age.
The novelisation of The Daleks provides an alternate beginning to the series. Barbara Wright is a school teacher giving one of her pupils, Susan Foreman, a ride home through Barnes Common. When she is involved in a collision with an Army truck she goes looking for help and finds Ian Chesterton, a scientist on his way home from a failed job interview. The two return to the scene of the crash to help the injured teenager, but the girl has disappeared. Moments later they meet a mysterious old man. Is he behind Susan's mysterious disappearance? And what is his connection to the blue police box that has appeared in the middle of the common? Why is he so protective of it, and why is he so keen to get rid of Ian and Barbara? The answers to these questions will lead the two new friends into terrible danger and into the greatest adventure of their lives.
The televised story picks up again upon the party's arrival on Skaro for their first encounter with the Daleks, and continues into The Edge of Destruction. Following events in the Dalek city, the new friends become distrustful of each other. Is someone trying to sabotage the Doctor's Time Ship? Is the strange old man trying to get rid of the two stow-aways? Or is there someone else on board the TARDIS ...?
