Firefly Online is a strategic online role playing game (RPG) based on Firefly, Joss Whedon’s cult-hit television series.
Firefly Online (FFO) is currently in development for Windows-based PCs, Mac OS X, iOS and Android, and may expand to include additional platforms.
In
Firefly Online, players assume the role of a ship captain as they hire a crew and seek out adventures, all the while trading with and competing against the millions of other players to try to survive in the Verse: find a crew, find a job, keep flying.
FFO provides a variety of gameplay activities and systems so that players can fully experience life in the Verse.
- Assume the role of a ship captain – create a crew and customize a ship
- Aim to misbehave in space and planet-side adventures
- Cross-platform player experience across devices (pick-up and play from anywhere)
- Unique social features connecting Firefly fans
- Create a shiny ship and explore the Verse
FFO Coming to Steam

We just got some great news: Firefly Online has been officially accepted as a Steam partner! That means PC and Mac users will be able to buy FFO, sign into their accounts, get bonuses, DLC and extras through the Steam engine. You’ll even be able to discuss the game with fellow players in our very own Firefly Online Steam community!
The folks at Steam have been
very enthusiastic about FFO and want to make sure the game is available to their 65 million active users. For our part, we couldn’t be happier that our players will have the ease-of-use, community support and just overall platform awesomeness of Steam behind their copy of Firefly Online.
In other related news that will come as a surprise to no one, we discovered in our conversations there are *lots* of Browncoats on the Steam team. It’s always that much nicer when we work with partners who believe in Firefly as much as we do.
FFO Cortex Launches

Welcome to the Verse, travelers! As future citizens of this vast solar frontier, you are entitled to set yourself up on the Cortex, free of charge. The Cortex is the interplanetary communications network that will allow you access to all kinds of helpful advice, to trade your goods (legit and otherwise), and find whatever employ that’s suitable for someone of your… reputation.
For now, though, all you need do is set-up your name, e-mail address and whatever handle you’d like to be called by them as you happen to meet in your travels. And you can access the Cortex right here:

If you’ve previously set-up a Firefly Online account, it should have transferred over automatically. Please try and sign-in. If you can’t get on using your old credentials, just put in the e-mail address you used when you registered and click “forgot password…” to get going again.
It’s very important that you set-up and/or verify your account before the end of August, 2014. Why? Well, for those who do, we have a very shiny surprise. More on that tomorrow.
What you’ll be signing into is the actual identity management system for Firefly Online – think of it as the first piece of the game open to the public. As such, it’s Unity-based and may require you install the Unity plug-in. If you’d rather skip that step, we have a far less flashy (but equally functional) web-based form for registration and account management. Just click on the”here” link at the bottom of the Unity window: “Non-Unity player registration site accessible
here.”
