The writer of this is right in the reason I quit WoW. Just as he said, the frustration of the complete (gear) inequality in the PvP experience finally matched the frustration with raiding and I ditched the subscription. I was geared reasonably well but couldn't touch the raid-obsessed people, nor did I care to devote the time to raiding myself that would let me stand toe to toe with them.

The reasons stated in this article are also one of the big reasons I'm here on HH. I'm really looking forward to HJ's dynamic instances and freewheeling GM content to get rid of many of these problems (not to mention the lack of gear dependance)

Thanks for the replies guys, do any of you perhaps know what is in store for "end-game" content for HH? I've trolled the FAQ and all I seem to get is that there will be GM run events (which are always fun).

I had a little question pop up in my head when I saw the screenshot of the flying fish. Sorry this is a bit off topic, however could this mean we will see other large creatures flying in the sky? Can they interact with the players down on the ground? Example: small dragon flies overhead and decides he/she thinks one of your party members or a monster you've been looking for looks tasty and snatches them up.

Just throwing whats in my head out there.

Its sad that you could kill the "flying fish" even though its not recommended (whatever that means). And One of the E3 movies show a dragon flying around spitting fire. I haven't seen anything that says it will be any special interactions, but that dragon surly didn't look friendly so I guess we could expect being dragon barbecue, in one way or another.

This is the primary reason I quit most mmorpgs. I cannot spend 2 hours a day looking for a group when I only have 3-4 hours of time to play the game.

I don't think you will run out of things to do when you've reached the top level. There will always be quests, events, and of course socializing. ;)

Wonderful....Now.. what exactly is the highest level? I promise that that little bit of info would make us extremely pacified for months to come. (Unless it turns out to be 10 or 20. In which case HH will most likely go down in a ball of flame and hell fire.... :D )

But honestly, though, what she said sounds pretty interesting. About the only thing left to do on my lvl 50 in CoX is pretty much just dance in atlas park with fellow high levels. Of course, there is the occasional casino event, or costume contest, all very fun to host and such... but I hope HJ provides abit more than that. Sure you can -re-do- quests, but that gets very old, very quickly. If HJ can figure out a clever way to keep max level players going, without using end-game content or raids, they deserver a metal for doing the impossible.

I guess it's been a long time since the topic of levels came up.

The current top level for HJ will be 50. Most likely it will be raised after the game has been released for a while, possibly after a number of people have reached 50, or perhaps with an expansion, I'm not really sure how that will happen..

Don't forget, there will always be new quests released. There will be quests aimed at different level groups, some will be low level, and others will be for the big old bad players that were there since day 1.

You just made my day.

<faints>

Levels are quite meaningless, really.

You could make the top level set as 20... and just make it super hard to achieve. Or you could make it 120 (and watch all the fanboi's wet themselves in the process), and just make it "X"% faster to level so you blaze through to 120 at the same speed it takes you to make, say 70 in EQ2.

So, yeah... we can be a level 50... but what does it MEAN?

Well, I've heard tales that Simu's other games have a heck of a lot more than 50 levels... so if they start with 50, it's no big deal to me. It is "typical", but how they control the game up to and beyond those 50 levels is what truly matters, right?

Well, indeed... and that's my whole point. The rise to Level 50 can simply be manipulated so that it's as short, or as long, as Simu wants. What I'm driving at is that the number of levels is, at the end of the day, quite meaningless. You could raise that to Level 100, and just make the levelling twice as fast for example.

Your both swinging blind. The level cap means a great deal. If the cap was 100, then you can easily say that any bonus on leveling up will be boring. If it was 10, then most likely in between levels would be a very large timescale and very humdrum.

Now that we know the level cap is ~50, we.. or at least I can compare it to how "rewarding" leveling up is in CoX.

Leave it to Div' to bring home the goods. ;)

I agree with WM. The quantity of levels really does set some of the pace of a game. While that isn't huge for some people, I find it to be fairly important.
