Looks to be one of the most ambitious projects out there right now, but it also looks to be much further away from running than Hero's Journey or even Duke Nuken Forever, I'd guess. It's currently a one-man project but at least he has a pretty engine.

It's supposed to be entirely player-driven, with no NPCs except for wildlife. With permadeath, which I suppose would help get rid of the griefers pretty quickly (assuming you don't have the most powerful people in the game team up to be jerks).

Well it certainly looks pretty. Nice water, grass and lighting effects. But I'm not jumping on any bandwagons yet

He just finished a better version of the plant engine, apparently.

It hit the front page of Digg yesterday so it suddenly gained a large amount of momentum.. the problem is keeping it.
