Gojiro (book, not movie)

This is news, Vincenzo, NEWS!
The novel Gojiro by Mark Jacobson. Strange and fascinating rework of the gigantic reptile. Think of it as an alternate-reality in which the monster is real, and (spoilers)

talks, makes movies, and befriends a young Japanese lad. The two make a great left brain/right brain combo, Yuki being cerebral and analytical and 'jiro being flip and casual. The two spend a fair amount of time watching tv and debating the programming; sort of a Zippy and Griffy combo. The two eventually travel to California to meet their destiny. Hilarious subplot includes references to some of the various movies he's made. Finale showdown with the 'father of the heater (nuke)', one Joseph Prometheus Brooks. Coolest buddy book ever.

Very satisfying multi-leveled look at pop culture, nukes, and many things in between. Recommended.

From the description, it sounds like it would be the perfect source material for an anime series! :D

How big is Gojiro in the novel? I'm trying to visualize the two them watching TV together,

300 feet I think. The kid has a potion that can shrink him to portable size but when it starts wearing off things get dicey.
